Force India VJM04 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They are simply what they look to be : cable to support diffuseur.
Lot's of (maybe all?) cars have them.

Odd. I would of assumed that the Diffusers would have had the support of the underbody of the car.

You can maybe make the diffuser stiff enough by itself, or you can just run harmless cable to do it. I'd think the latter is lighter and simpler, and free up the extra weight to be used elsewhere for ballast....

The VJMO4 has seemed pretty poor so far it has to be said. It's still too early to say whether it's good or not but I expected more from FI.

I think they are not concentrating on the timesheets,as they had missed their first testing they have to make up for the lost time. The actual speed of all the cars will only be revealed on their last test.

Any idea why the VJM04 has no endplate vents? The flap actuation is packaged in the endplates but surely that is not the only reason for their absence. Are they really not that necessary? Practically every car has had them for years now.

The diffuser looks really "shallow" to me.

Those are FEEs. Big long ones. Exiting wide and down. There can't be much of that going under the floor.

Nope, its just the beginning of the floor. I asked the same way back in the thread, and it looks like FI had those metallic covers on the front of the floor already last year.
