Renault R31

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

For me it's too much to see differences. Total in so many directions is enough ;-) So there is 3rd iteration of FW in 2011 season. Do they fight for Guinness record?

Upper flap looks different to me. It's also sculpted around it's half. Possibly for letting more air to the brake ducts. I don't remember if there was this slit in the lowest part - just under ends of second and third flap. But there's always Blackout there to correct me :)

Thanks, Madly! So now we have a game. Who'll find most differences.

Those slits at lowest plate was there all time along. But cut's in the upper plate are new. I'm not too sure about that last one, but I also think that the ends of the middle and upper plates are profiled in a slightly different way leaving a bit more space between them, but that could be angle of photos as well.

I also have a question. Someone mentioned that two Jerez wings have different endplates. I can't spot any differences tough. Can someone tell me, where should I look?

No, look closely at the edge of the upper flap. That black thing on the edge (clearly visible because of the gold paint) might be gurney, which is partially missing at Barcelona spec. At first I thought it was cut there...

EDIT: And I see it ;)

The wing is still a 2010 but the endplates changed for the second time:

top version is the new one ('tal' fin is longer. the fin in the middel is now black)

If they will have such a agressive development like in 2010 they will be very very strong. Love the team spirit

A very interesting theory about R31's rear.

Thanks Blackout, now I see differences. But I still think that also top flap is slightly modified.
