HRT F111 Cosworth

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Have to aggree with you. If some teams took some time to have a look here and investigate some ideas we have had suggested on this board, lots of us here are picture conseptualists and aerodynamisists.

As for ideas for helping CFD and such, im sure that a few hundred personal computers linked together all doing a small part of the full picture would be cheaper and easier to run than a full CFD suite on site, and im sure there would be many fans out there that would sign up. I know i would. Then you could have a sence of pride that you have helped in a teams success.

Lets see how the F111 looks when they launch the car. Whitch could be next week in the free week before testing starts on what is looking like the 10th of March now.

This might be possible for steady state simulations, but if you need to time step then there is no chance you could do it. The key to parallel computing is the speed of data transfer between your nodes and if your nodes are all connected by ADSL or (god forbid) dial-up, then all advantages of an e-science approach are lost in the data lag.

According to BBC's Sarah Holt, they are planning to launch and run their 2011 car for the first time on Friday afternoon and then on Saturday.

Not too much running planned.

At this rate, they should participate in pre-season testing fully by about 2018.

Brrr...guess it is not looking to good for HRT? Hope they won't disappear like a fluke.

Guess other have struggled similar in the past, Arrows, Minardi, etc. Really how can these teams ever be competitive, coming with one spare part to the track, etc.

For starters that new front wing looks light years ahead of what they ran last year.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️
