HRT F111 Cosworth

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

We know that we don´t know.If this was the potential of the car (which we don´t know) considering they ran the new rearend already in the Barcelona test and Liuzzi posting the quickest lap it does not look like they found a lot of time yet.
considering RB suppossed to "hold back 3tenths" and all teams stepping up their pace in the last test in barcelona the 107% is quickly back as a priority on HRTs agenda .

I do not understand this part of your post. Could you please explain it?

White is suspected to have come up with the Brawn frontwing when he worked on the 2009 Honda concept ( ex Super Agurí after the stop by Honda ).
the Honda concept was for a low profile nose and as we can see on the W02 the wing still seems to be state of the art for MGP-even one could debate if Mercedes F1 is state of the art in Grandprixracing 2011(but let´s wait and see) .So if you got the guy who came up with the concept you got a good chance to understand it very well.
Especially when there is no money/recources for windtunnel work and you need to rely on experience and CFD this must come in handy having someone on board having been involved into the basic development.

HRT and Virgin are especially clever (or is this just coincidence?) in going already for a lower nose .With their CFD approach they need to evolve slowly and build up their database to be able to produce predictable development steps.Starting now in a time when you will not challenge for the last tenths but whole seconds still to be found it makes sense to work already for the future.

How is a lower nose working for the future? It seems quite obvious all the other teams are going for higher noses to channel more air to the underside of the car...

Because the FIA are considering a maximum nose height that is considerably lower than the current trend, in order to minimise the chance of a car launching in an impact such as that of Mark Webber @ Valencia.

If you have low resources available for developing a concept, getting ahead of the game by 12 months could be extremely valuable.

+1

see where th game is going and focus your development programme to achieve a certain performance at that time instead of sepnding lots of cash trying to catch up.

I'd put money on them beating Virgin at years end if they can make all of the races.

Just an interesting point - note the right upper wishbone is sitting at a different angle to the left(ie: is in greater 'droop'). I guess that indicates that they've still got rose-joints at the inboard end.

I thought everyone ran flexures as their inboard front WB attachments nowadays.

Will they have two running cars at the beginning of FP1? Not necessarily fast or reliable, but just running? Hope so. Did they get their dampers out of customs yet?

I think HRT's attempt to qualify two untested cars within 107% is one of the more interesting stories of the weekend.

There is no reason why Hispania shouldnt be running both cars.

theoretically, there shouldn't also be a reason why they shouldn't be able to run a car in the last test in Barcelona, as the season was suppose to start on 11th of March and in Bahrain...

Crap. Neither HRT participated in Friday practice 1 because "their rear ends were still being built up" (according to Formula1.com). This is not a good predictor of serious participation in qualifying this weekend.

In the meantime both Virgins circulated well outside the 107% window of the Red Bulls (approx. 95 seconds vs 86 seconds, ~ 110% of the quick time), so Virgin could have a very tough time in qualifying too.
