Force India VJM04 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They seem to have really lost ground with other midfield runners and probably scrap with lotus for the finish line
Thats really going back in terms of pace and with home race in India coming up.

Hope FIF1 can develop better this time around by the time they reach Delhi

Wow, fully half of what looks like an already smaller than average brake duct taped off. I know the temps are low right now, but still that seems impressive to me.

For the moment it looks like the Force is taking a step backwards this year....breaking the trend from previous years.
Hope Vijay will stick with it and not decide to cut back...

Oddly enough, I was going to comment on how large this looked compared to others!

It's on the rear, KERS will be taking some load off the brakes this year I would imagine...

THIS is what you can call 'small brake duct'

I don't think they will finish higher than they did last year. They lost a lot of key people from their technical team and they're going to suffer because of it. Unless FI hires another solid technical team, they're going to go backwards in the standings real fast.

The wing looks the same to me? Except the "old" wing has some black highlights which the "new" one does not.

EDIT: Now i see the differences sorry :)

it looks like a turning vane inside of the top wings that looks to be pointing to the tire, which i thought was a bad thing because the tire is going to get that much air

Maybe it's pointing at brake ducts?

It's hard to see in all that whitewash, but, they have a vane in the middle of the wing. Look at the wing on the right and you'll see it. A curved vane, like an MGP endplate.

Yes, I see this vane. Shrek wrote, he thinks it's unwise to use this vane to direct air on the tyres and I replied, that maybe it's not directing it exactly on the tyres but rather to feed brake ducts more efficiently - but that was just wild guess.
