Wow, more teams entered than positions. I hate to hand Max any kind of credit, but it's real nice to see the field expanding instead of shrinking.
I have to go with Stoddard, he got in line ahead of Richards.
Even though I have some sympathy for Mr. Stoddard and the Minardi name, I guess a professional and well-organized structure like Prodrive would bring more into the competition.
Anyway, I see no logic in limiting the field to 12 teams (other than getting a bigger share of the pie for each one). The logic for this cost limitation philosophy isn't also allowing for other competitors? At least that's what Max declared, some time ago...
I agree with the general sentiment... Prodrive and DR know how to win, Minardi and PS don't.
Honda? Why would Dave give his money to the people who dumped him? My guess would be Cosworth (because they make a living selling motors) or Toyota (because, face it, any B-team is better than Midland).
Even I think it is a really stupid thing to limit the grid to 12 teams. Getting to the point, Stoddy would be no doubt great and will have nice backing from teams and Bernie but at the same time Prodrive is much better placed financially and really has the potential to be among the front-runners, something which Stoddy can hope to do once in a blue moon.......
I dont think Max and Bernie want the headache of Paul in F1, my vote would be David Richards, his company is established in other motorsports and he has always acted professionaly in F1 and seems to get results down when he is the team principal. But my main point would be that Paul would make too much of a ruckus in F1 and hence Max and Bernie do not want him
