HRT F111 Cosworth

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I have big hopes that HRT will come good. I think some people are being a bit unfair, they are not the first team to strapped for cash, hope they pull through!

I think the Hispania bashing is just lazy journalism.

The specialist press know they are a smaller team than the big boys.

Other teams ran by Kolles especially Force India have gone on to be a lot better of a team!

I just have the feeling with this team, how the rest of the teams are in 2011 this team is in 2009, because the standard of that car looks the standard of a 2009 car.

The new front wing has given F111 a neat design. Now I hope they can qualify for the race. They are using the 2010 Williams gearbox, right?

I think they are yes, that in itself is an advantage over virgin.

I get the feeling that until we hit europe it will be a case of them needing to do laps and try attain some reliability. I will bet now that if they do make the race (I think at least one will bar some catastraphe) then i dont think they will have a car finish the race.

The car from what we have seen is more complex but that in itself makes the need for testing even greater and reliability will be as much a challenge for them as performance. Anyway if they can provide the money im sure Geoff Willis and the new wind tunnel can get them back on track with the others.

One thing they have in their favour is that Geoff Willis has a reputation as someone who knows how to make a car reliable. If you remember he was brought into RBR when Newey's cars were failing too often and look at their reliability since.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Their FP2 pace shows them right on the edge of 107% rule. Some decent running in next practice and they should at least get into the race. That will provide critial running time if they can stay out of trouble. I hope they do it.

Yeah i think their pace on best form at the moment my beat d'ambrosio but I think Glock has an advantage on them. I think having someone like Geoff Willis is massive for them as you need to rely on the little money availible being used well.

I think they can certainly give a better showing of themselves this week but if neither car did make it through it really would worrying for them. Hopefully the rumours of investors are true and they can push on. :D

Not a very good picture, but seems that they are using a slightly different solution for the outer exhausts zone

Geoff Willis just said on the BBC that they didn't start designing her till December and that she is mostly based on the F110 chassis.

I think we already knew about them basing the 2011 car on the 2010 one, especially when they started designing the car in mid December!
