No, both drivers with old cover during both sessions.Holm86 wrote:Didnt they run the new engine cover today??
Just saw the last 30min of FP2 and none of the HRT had the new cover.

Yes but Bernie is why they are not in FOTA and subsequently how they have survived to date.............probably.adrianjordan wrote:I know this it off topic, but if BE signs HRT in order to try and split up FOTA then he's obviously getting a little senile. They are not within 107% if a frontrunner puts in a serious Q1 lap. I assume all their practice sessions will be 100% focused on qualy setup and speed.
There is scuttlebutt about HRT selling its soul to the devil in exchange for survival money. This means committing to Bernie long-term in exchange for more Bernie money up front. Williams did this a few years ago and the resulting Bernie committment was why Williams had to side with Bernie/FIA over FOTA in the threatened breakaway series. Having said that, Williams is still around and they are more independent than most teams. Perhaps the devil is a reasonable businessman??

"There has been a certain amount of speculation about the Hispania Racing Team doing a financial deal with the Formula One group for a pile of money each year as Bernie Ecclestone continues to try to split up the alliance of the teams. No doubt some will be tempted to jump ship if Colin Kolles does get a $35 million a year deal, which is three and a half times what he is getting now. That would secure the future of the team but it would not make Kolles popular with the other team owners, many of whom consider that politically-speaking HRT is an irrelevance. If others break way and sign up with Ecclestone then this will undermine FOTA."
I can just imaging his facial expression... I would pay to get a picture of him while a HRT is pulling away from him.Alexgtt wrote:Yes but Bernie is why they are not in FOTA and subsequently how they have survived to date.............probably.adrianjordan wrote:I know this it off topic, but if BE signs HRT in order to try and split up FOTA then he's obviously getting a little senile. Absolutely loved seeing HRT quicker than the Virgin cars today. They are well within 107% on today's FP2 times. Lets see about that tomorrow.
No lack of straightline speed either. Was anyone else impressed when the HRT flicked open the DRS and drove away from Alonso on the main straight in the last moments of FP2. =D> OK, Fred was in race sim mode but was still a cool moment.
Will we see the new engine cover in FP3?JGomezH wrote:Sorry wrong post.Deleted. Old shark-fin.
After seeing HRT pulling away from Ferrari I must say I now really love DRS. They should be allowed to use it anywhere and everywhere ! =D>Muulka wrote:I can just imaging his facial expression... I would pay to get a picture of him while a HRT is pulling away from him.Alexgtt wrote:

Promising pace though. Could they maybe be in with a shot of being ahead of Virgin? They were both faster than them in P2, when Liuzzi only did one flying lap...
Usually more df means more drag. So if the HRT reduced their wing, they'd get less drag and less df. And the reverse is also true. But the HRT package is all-around not optimised. For example, If you made a sail out of metal on top of your car, and there is no wind, that would produce mounds of drag but no downforce.Lca1443 wrote:First off let me say that I'd like to see HRT make it. But wouldn't a lack of down force normally allow for less drag, thus increasing the straight line speed.
