According to crash.net (actually a good source seeing as they usually copy reports from other sites), the head belonging to the Renault chap in question connected with a champagne bottle that Sutil had in his hand or Sutil whacked him over the head with a dirty great glass bottle (depend on which side of the fence you sit).
Either way, it was supposedly an accident so I am guessing that folk were larking around and this poor bloke was caught in the drunken crossfire.

Haha, classic Certainly no better explanation than that as to how a chapagne bottle or a glass connects with another person's neck 'accidentally'

All we know is that Sutil injured Genii manager Eric Lux.
We don't know why and how. People say it was with a broken glass/broken champagne bottle. Maybe Eric Lux fell on a champagne bottle opened by "sabrage" when shoved by Sutil.
Allegedly there was an argument between Eric Lux and
Hamiltons security personnel and Sutil interfered.
There are rumors that Eric Lux made provocative remarks in direction of Sutil and/or Hamilton.
Eric Lux suffered a severe cut to the neck which had to be fixed with several stitches. Some sources report that Lux health suffered irreversible damage.
Eric Lux will pursue a criminal case against Adrian Sutil for physical assault and grievous bodily harm (in six different countries). Some sensationalistic sources speak of attempted manslaughter.
