Online streaming ...

Post

Every race weekend has post from people asking about online streaming.

I started to write this post in the Spanish Race thread, but realised it was off-topic, so here it is.

The BBC has a global block outside the UK. Were not all Brit's, (Pirates we be)[/quote]

Two reasons:

1 - Sports rights are usually sold country by country,so broadcasters promise not to broadcast to another country. You'd be pee'd off if you'd paid for rights only to find another country giving it away for free!

2 - The BBC is not actually "free", it is paid by a subscription (licence fee)levied on every owner of a TV in the UK. That gives the licence fee payers free access to all output. The BBC also sell content outside the UK (so you can watch Top Gear in Australia). Again, it wouldn't make sense to sell the broadcast rights if viewers could the content it free online. If those non-UK sales stopped, then my licence fee would go up. I'm normally a generous chap, but the idea of me paying extra to let others watch for free doesn't really appeal for some reason!

Re: Online streaming ...

I had to pay £145 for the privlidge of owning and watching my TV!

Always a pleasure considering the BBCs excellent programing consists of football, unknown "celebrities" in sequins dancing, Family Guy repeats and a wee bit of motorsport (which always seems to take a back seat anyway on the red button when I want the good commentary!). All I watch is the F1, MotoGP and the odd film on the BBC!

End of anti-BBC rant!!!!

It's not free for me in my way of thinking. I have to listen to the BBC Announcers ogling over everything British.
It is difficult however to attach a dollar value for doing penance
The upside is no commercials during the race. :P
