SebP, it may not be a looker, but it wasn't a bad car in itself, i think it was the 79 Ferrari 312 you've got there, which won both drivers and constructors championships. defeats the point of the thread really.

My original idea with this thread was to present the worst shitboxes of all times, not necessarily the ugliest, but ok.

I don't think any of the Ferraris above really belong here, the 312T4 won Jody Scheckter the 1979 crown and the 126C was Harvey Postlethwaite's first Ferrari, a giant leap for the scuderia. But agreed, the 312T4 was ugly as sin...

I understand the original purpose of this thread before the merger. In the new post-merge spirit both Ferraris belong here. The 312T4 for being ugly, the 126 for killing Villeneuve and nearly Pironi.

I could hardly disagree more on the 126C, it was neither ugly or slow, au contraire, while saying it "killed Villeneuve" is outrageous to my mind.

Let me rephrase that:
The 126c2 has it's rightful place here because one of motaracing's true greats was killed in it. And because the man who would have most likely taken the WDC that year had to retire from F1 due to an accident with that very car.

There were no better materials in the 1980s. Carbon kevlar was not used yet.

Lotus and McLaren had carbon tubs that year. Sadly Ferrari was lagging.
However noone can guarantee that it could change something in that crash...
