Thank you M3, 1972 Monaco in the rain, what a tough scenario for any driver. Jeanne Pierre Beltoise won, with one of the all time great Reinmeisters second, Jackie Ickx. It was nice to see one of my heroes, Brian Redman in that clip. He finished 5th after starting 10th. Brian may never be recognized by the majority of F1 fans, but just like Mario, he could drive anything, and very well. A quiet, unassuming, competent driver. And one heck of a very nice man.
Although I am captivated by the efficiency and technology of modern Formula One cars, they somehow fall short of my mental image of what I visualize as racing cars. Give me wide wheelbases, fat, fat slicks, and a car that is as low as possible. And all the camera pods, bargeboards, flip-ups and winglets all seem to take away from what I enjoy in aesthetics in a race car.

I haven't thought of mine yet and I started the thread!

1, Lotus' 16 and 25. Best cars before wings cat: Image

2, Bradham fan car. Most original idea, that worked cat Image

and the Arrows A1, Best looking cat. Image

And I haven't got a pic yet but I have to include;
Williams FW14b. Engineering masterpiece cat.

thats all so far.

[Edit: I of course meant the A2 Arrows after all that is where I found the pic. Doh]

For my favourite F1 it had to be way more tehnologically advanced compared to the rest of the field. So I picked the Williams FW14B

The Fw14b on the outside did not look much different from the fw14 used the previous year but boy was it quick, This car was equipped with a multitude of new gizmos like active suspension which maximized undercar downforce, traction control which is used on the latest f1 cars, and even ABS brakes, and the Renault V10 engine. It completely outpaced everything, no other team could design a car to use the new technologies williams had introduced until next year. Williams were laughing, It was only until the decided to use componants of TNT in their engine fuel that they encountered some reliability problems otherwise they may well of won every race of the season

In no particular order:

The Lotus 49 (In BRG without any wings)

The Eagle - Westlake T1G

Utterly heart-stoppingly beautiful

The Ferrari 156

(The Sharknose Ferrari)

The Lotus 79

It wasn't the first ground effect car...but it sure looked good

The Williams FW14B
Image
So Clever...and it looked so damned good!
(btw...Tomba...why isnt the FW14b in the "All F1 cars Ever" page? Are you updating it?)

(btw, coulndt pick a top 5, way too hard!!)

One of my all time favs:
Lotus-Renault 98T - is that the one you have there Manchild?? love this car, esp. with Senna driving it and with the John Player Special livery and all, so mean looking.

1966 Honda RA273 - this car is awesome, esp. the rear, with the engine manifold showing, it looks really sleek but still with the classic raw feel.

1960 Cooper T53 - such a nice looking car

Lotus 49 - already mentioned numerous times so i wont say any more

Eagle T1G (not sure wat year) - so mean looking

James Hunt in the Mclaren M23 - car was pretty ugly but was fast and Hunt was amazing in it

MP4/4!!!, again already mentioned so wont say nemore (but it was an amazing car)

ill restrain myself from naming nemore, Really sorry bout the length of thread and number of cars, kinda got carried away  but thers so many awesome cars i wanna mention!!!
