I think that's a little harsh on Webber – he just didn't quite have the car under him. He drove a clean race, and made some lovely moves.donskar wrote:Hamilton: A

Great race. At least on this track, on this day, Ferrari and McL have caught and passed RBR. This might be an interesting season after all. If Vettel can be kept off the front row, he is vulnerable.
I agree that Webber deserves more than a C for his performance. He has always had bad starts, but he also consistently finishes on the podium to get himself and the team points. Considering the competition that he had, the poor start, the tire/pit strategy, and his driving overall, he gets at least a B+ if you're going to be tossing A's at Alonso and Hamilton. As a fan, I'd give him an A, but it was down to him to gain those extra seconds over Hamilton for the last pitstop, and he just couldn't push it out of the tires.beelsebob wrote:I think that's a little harsh on Webber – he just didn't quite have the car under him. Still think C is a bit harsh, but agree to disagree.donskar wrote:I gave Webber just a "C" (average) because he started from pole in avery fast car, blew the start (again!), then could not respond later. I gave Ferrari pits a D because they cost Massa a position.
I could only see the first 30min of the race. Looks like I missed a lotringo wrote:If you watch a replay, webber didn't leave the track, he wasn't touched either.
He was just spooked and he himself went to the right.
He was not squeezed off. 1 car's width left for him.
Unless you are suggesting Hamilton makes the back step out purposely to frighten webber.

Webber was never side by side. And still he got room.
I don't really see an issue here. As side by side on the outside of such a tight turn isn't really side by side. As you approach the apex, the outer car will fall back in a turn like that.
It's at that point webber fell back and hamilton closed the gap.
Webber was going for a non existent gap as poeple like to say when Hamilton does it.
Then I jumped them around the stop. Led the middle stint I think and then we got jumped in the next round of pit stops by both guys. Fernando went one lap longer and jumped both of us. Lewis got him on the outside of three. I tried to do the same move on Lewis but it was quite close. I wasn’t far enough around to really win the corner so all of us are warming up our tyres in the first sector having had the guy that’s just pitted. But overall mixed emotions. I don’t think I could have got much more. I think I drove to the limit of the car. All of us did. Lewis deserved the win.
Definite wheel to wheel contact too but considering they where both on the limit and no damage was done it's not a big deal imo.vall wrote:I could only see the first 30min of the race. Looking at this video I agree that Ham pushed Webber off track, clearly.
So how was Webber supposed to pass in a gap that doesn't exist? Should Hamilton not defend the line? He gave Webber more than enough space to yield.Ray wrote:Jenson didn't slam him into the wall and said himself he couldn't see. The situations are completely different. Same with Massa in Monaco, Lewis wasn't completely alongside him like Webber was in Germany. In the Massa and Lewis situation Lewis was over halfway across a curb and then had to ride Massas side pod to make it around the corner. I consider that Massas fault however. In Silverstone however, Lewis drove into Massa and damaged his car gaining 4th place. I consider that Lewis' fault, but I'm not saying he's a dirty driver at all, he a fantastic racer.ringo wrote:Ray so what did you say when Jenson slammed Hamilton into the wall in canada?
Or when Maldonado and Massa didn't give any room, as well as Shumacher in Canada who moved twice then forced Hamilton off to the side.
It seems Hamilton is always in the wrong.
If you noticed, Hamilton did not touch Webber.
Webber was legitimately, 100% alongside him and was driven across the curbs and onto wet grass to block his progress. I consider that blocking. I don't think he should have gotten a penalty in this race, and I think he drove a fantastic race to a well deserved win, but driving someone on the outside completely off the track should be discouraged. I can not touch another driver and still force them into a dangerous situation. Ala Heidfeld and Buemi. I do think that had he not driven Webber over the curb he'd have had a harder time gaining the win, but he drove a great race and got a much deserved win.
