Webber to Renault?

Post

I'm sure that can be the case. With Alonso shipping out, and Fisi sucking big time and his contract done end of this year, I won't be surprised to see Webber and Kovalain in the Renault seats. Flavio boys.

It will never happen. Last year Webber was (along Fisicho) titled "the most disappointing driver of the year" by the french media responsible of F1 coverage.
As I said before in another thread, this TF1 channel is owned by Bouygues and Bouygues is Renault's second main sponsor (after Mild Seven). If you combine the sacking power they have by beeing (saddly) the most wached media in France (and France the first market for Renault) and the pression they can put on the manufacturer in term of sponsorship, I don't think it's possible to see a driver they sacked landing in a driver's seat here.
The thing is general public does not think by itself in my country, and if JL Moncet say Webber is "inconsistent & not so fast", it will become french's opinion.
But that being said, I'm sure Briatore has the last word when it's about choice of the team drivers, and if he have that a high opinion of MW, the Renault group and the bunch of sponsors behind them won't interfere too much, as Flavio is known for his impressive flair finding champions.

No chance... Webber is good bloke, good driver but nothing more than that apart from fact that fitting him in car is problematic and reduces possibilities for manipulation with ballast. Also, Australia is no market for European cars so I don't see any interest in it for Renault.

I have been to Oz a few times and the amount of european cars are picking up, and they was a few renault garages in perth.

Webber will stay with williams i think as he is a loyal person. But i think theres more chance of him going than motoya if mclaren keep kimi.

I thought that Webber ruled it out just the other day?
He jokingly said 'he didn't want to learn another 250-400 names' among other things

i think webber should stay put in williams. he has been jumping teams his whole career and i think he has realised that it takes time for them to setup the car to his liking. thats why he shrugged of any rumours of him leaving willams.
briatore is a smart team principal and i think he will find the right drivers for next season

Kovalainen will be in F1 race seat next season for sure! Who will take the second I don't know, but I don't think it will be Mark.

You know what would be great?? JV in Renault for a whole season. JV -> competitive driver....Renault -> competitive car.
JV+Renault = JV for champion :P

Only a little idea of mine

If it were up to Mark I think he would stay at Williams, They seem to have a great car and a great engine, they just need more consistency in the drivers and set up.

But if Williams decided they need a driver change, there are worse places Mark could go than to renault.

Even though I would love to see Mark win races, i think he needs to be put in a team as the second driver, next to somone like shumi or alonso or kimi, firstly to take some pressure off him and to learn from them

i think mark becoming a second driver would be a step back for his career. webber is a quick driver but ppl tend to over rate him. i think he needs to master how to race consistently. he is extremely quick over 1 lap but during the race he seems to move backwards

I agree jaslfc, he can't maintain he speed through the Qualifying and the race. He is fast in Qualifying, but he seems to loose he pace in almost every race.

Saddly he is always seen as a newcomer who doesn't know any better. But he must be good. he took a Minardi to 5th. Hes been in it 4 years now (I think) and really just needs motivation. If Williams would just give him a kick up the arse and tell him to buck up his ideas or hes out for next race then I think we would see great things. Drivers always perform better under pressure :P
