you want to erase the effects of bumps first of all and much more important:

When generating downforce you will of course compress the springs lowering rideheight in this .So your measurements of force are much easier when rideheights are controlled and steady so will be your reproduceability-leaving the tyre squash as the variable in the equation.
to generate a aeromap this seems quite a good idea.additionally you can easily change rideheights front and rear left right on the fly ....so you can gather a lot more data on each run without having to use the help of spanners.
A test mule should have a lot of adjustability on the fly methinks.

Thanks zgred. Looks like the DRS actuators were in the upper front corners of the endplates after all. They now have slots.

This car is on the rise. It's a steady Q3 car.

I think this is up to mercedes improving the engine mappings.

Mclaren and FI have seen a good bounce in performance.

while the renault powered cars, not so much.

I find the development of the Force India quite striking. It went backwards when James Key left for Sauber while Sauber was on a rise from the point Key joined onwards....now FI seem to get back into shape and even better than before, battling around with the MGPs.

Can't imagine why FI aren't using this nose/FW configuration already to be honest. There must be more downforce in it than the usual layout.

Also as regards to why they haven't already introduced it is because they practically have a new front end and such a major upgrade would require them to test it and go through all the data before introducing it.

Nice circular reasoning there. It must have more downforce because they're testing it, and they should be using the configuration already because there must be more downforce in it. If it were that simple, wouldn't teams simply test a new part every 3 seconds... after all, there must be more downforce in it!

They're testing it to find out IF it has less drag/more downforce. Ever heard of a failed upgrade?

This wing had more surface area and more flaps which generally = more downforce (except at really slow circuits) + snowplough is more efficient than the bulge thing they were using.

Ah, so the teams can literally screw a barn door on there and it'll be a good wing? They're not going for flat out most downforce – they're going for most downforce for drag caused.
snowplough is more efficient than the bulge thing they were using.
