Amount of employees on a race team?

Post

Hi,
I was thinking the other day, I know F1 teams can have 300 employees, but how many do the "lesser" teams like F3, GP2, FFord etc. have?
Thanks

the number of people is really depends on what series you are competing in and what level the people are you are dealing with.

If you are well prepared you will not need too many headcount at the track usually. But then their are accidents and things can get busy from one second to the other.
The real magic is Formula 1 teams look like they can recover froma driver having a off in practise sessions nowadays. In the old days -crash on friday ruined your weekend-
So if your driver is keeping it on the black thatis always a big help in keeping the necessary headcount low...

But 350+people working in a team is definetly Formula 1 -absurdity....that is really a big company ..not your lets go racing and have some fun team..

Don't think it's really a fair comparison.

F1 teams building their own chassis and/or engine, doing all the design work etc... that takes a lot of people.

The number of people who are actually on the trackside team is nowhere near as big. That would be a better comparison to a F3, GP2, IRL team I think.
