The more I look at the field, the more I feel Renault lost their advantage, not only over Ferrari, but to Mc Laren, BMW, and Williams too. Fernando's result is due to his incredible driving skills, he pushed very hard but even Flavio admited Renault's pace wasn't matching Ferrari's today. More worrying was the incapacity of GF to overtake the BMW of JV even while he was allowed two laps at full power and within a 0.5 sec range between him and the canadian.
Well, it hurt my tongue to say it, but congratulations to Ferrari one again. and bravo to Felipe, Nico and Jacques. They did a solid race.

One more thing, the realisation was A LOT better here than in Italy. We could see a race with more than two teams, and had a little more explainations about the circumstances (flags, retirements) during the race.

It seems that most of us were wrong at predicting todays race. Most of us thought Schumi will finish in mid field. Despite the fact that the same engine was used in previous grand prix.

great job by shumy and finally an entire race where massa didnt do any mistakes.. i agree that the other teams are closing the gap with renault.
mclaren is still not exactly there yet.. i taught raikonnen would have came up and challenge the top 2...maybe next race. barca will be fun.. coz most teams test there..

Great win by MS. I hope this win silences the nay-sayers who believed Imloa was a one-off.

This year it should now be clear to even the most obtuse that it is MS vs FA, Ferrari vs Renault. Sorry KR and Mclaren fans but better luck next year!

I think this is only good for F1! Nobody wants to see the same driver or team win over and over and over again. It happened 5 years long! The F1 fans want to see exciting races, drivers fighting for victory!

Renault haven't lost their advantage at all, they have been at the front of the last 2 GP's and alonso hasn't finished below 2nd.

Fine Ferrari had a very good weekend but it looks like these two are going to be at it for the rest of the season.

The only disadvantage will be to Ferrari when the circuits suit michelin runners and they have to race with Mclaren and maybe Honda as well. When the circuit suits Bridgestone we see thats it nip and tuck between ferrair and Renault.

An advantge that Ferrari has is that they let Massa do all of the donkey work on fridays doing tyre runs and setups allowing Schumi to have more new tyres for the race.

I think they are there, but are mistaken in their strategy. Why do they insist on qualifying that heavy

They have handling issues, so it's not the good thing to do to run heavy. If you look the pace of KR in the end of his stints, they are competitive enough. It looks as if they developped the car to run heavy, decided before the start of season they'll do so, and now are sticking with that strategy even seeing it cost'em victories.[/quote]

You're right! When I saw how the Renaults had dominated the first three races, I wasn't too thrilled (although, maybe it's because I was jealous that my team was not doing so well). But it, now, looks as though we'll be seeing a lot of this i.e. Ferrari and Renault leading the pack. Mclaren doesn't seem to be anywhere close to them, and Honda and Toyota are having their own "issues". I would like to see those three teams thrown into the mix rather than having them watching from the outside...that would make this season very interesting to watch.

btw, where is Manchild? Maybe we should put him on a suicide watch

Even if Alonso won today it was boring race that proved once again that overtaking in F1 is history. Great drive from Nico Rosberg which was completely opposite to Giancarlo Fisichella. Today it wasn't his fault again because "he was faster but got stuck behind slower cars"

That was always the overture for what racing is about – overtaking, but it is not on Fisicella's repertoire. His friendship with Flavio will destroy Renault. I can only hope that Carlos Ghosn will call up Flavio to check what the hell Fisichella is doing with their money.

I think that it was interesting race. It shows that we're up for a non-predictable season!

Of course I hope that Alonso will be WC once more for Renault

And that JV will be so good that they can't even consider replacing him

(Does this all sound like I have favourites?

You know what....I was thinking that same thing at the end of the race. Of the past 5 GP's, during three of those, Villeneuve managed to keep his car in the points paying position. On top of that, he got BMW their first points. If he keeps this up, I would really like to see that explanation if they don't keep him.

btw, Manchild, if you ever get tired of my cheap-shots, just as me how my team did against Buffalo (NHL hockey) last game

We were absent. FIA asked us, veterans of this forum, to develop the new rules for 2006, effective immediately. I can give you the complete text now:

"If the winner of the race happens to drive a Ferrari car, he will be given an automatic penalty of 10 places."

Simple. Effective. This should bring more fun to the races and definitely, will make the field more even.... All teams agreed on the new rules, except Ferrari, always the whiner.

I take my hat off to Schumi and Massa! As "the old and well known Colombian joke goes": "the devil knows more because he is old than what he knows because he is the devil". Briatore is trying to outmanouver Todt and Brawn... he, he, good luck.
