I still reakon Alonso for the title. Look at the stats.
5 races. 2 wins apiece. Alonso leads the championship by some 13 points.
Consistancy counts! Just look at the WRC, Loeb is running away with it. Not only is he fast but he is gentle to the car. He know that to finish first, first you must finish.
You can tell the champs because when they're not first, they're second.

The points system definitely does suck. The difference between first and second is the same as second and third, two points. The winner should have a larger reward.
I've always maintained that Ferrari are competitive this year, but they have to have both cars run flawless all weekend for one to get a win. This is as good as it gets. Massa definitely was a huge factor in Shu winning. His being able to stick to Alonso for the first two-thirds of the race made it a two on one mugging against Alonso, his strategy was forced, and he really ran out of options at the last pit stop. The fact that Fisi isn't as consistently quick as Massa really does make it a two-on-one situation of Ferrari versus Renault. But even all by himself, Alonso will probably win the driver's title.
Most of the drivers drove very good races, but some teams are showing signs of weakness, Mclaren, Honda, and Williams.
I'm very proud of JV, he consistently out-drove his teammate all weekend, and held his own on the track, only to lose position through pit stop shortcomings.
JV definitely has been a revealation of the season, it seems BMW's confidence in keeping him gave him a boost of life. Made all the more impressive when other big name runners failed to deliver the goods...
i dont think he was pissed but disapointment. after imola if u remeber alonso saying that nurburgring was a michelin track and he was very confident...
i think he was supprised that he just couldnt keep up with micheal
Dissapointing for Sato though, that mid-wing broke somewhere around the middle part of the race. The most pissed should be JB for sure, the team confirm it was a blown engine.
lol did anyone who watches the UK ITV coverage hear James Allen say 'I dread to think how much downforce he is losing', referring to Sato's mid-wing!
Oh god James you know nothing. I think we've all ascertained that the mid-wing is not used to generate downforce itself, but allow the rear wing to become more effective. I don't think James Allen knew that though haha.
The big problem that you even not noted, is that ferrari wasn't better than the 4 others GP, they was still around 1.7s between thier best qualifs times and best races laps!
Renault did a big mistake, they didn't choose the good tyres, as BMW did, alonso best time in race was 2.5s than his qualifs best time, since start of 2005 he was always around 1s , at worst 1.5s, but yesterday Alonso was unusually slow, 1.33 1.34 average, and it's clear that if mclaren honda and renault followed BMW choice, Ferrari wouldn't be on the podium, it's a big mistake, and michelin and the pace of the BMW in race confirm it, not only the mediocre 2.5s gap between saturday and sundays alonso lap times!
now, it's rather funny that not even one of you saw this, because it quite more interesting to talk about renault death and ferrari false triumph or exeptional pace!
Also Massa had Schumacher beat on the first corner, but he slowed down to let Schu in. Damn Team Orders.
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

In that sense, James Allen was right: he was loosing overall downforce, if he wasn't, assuming that that mid wing cannot reduce drag (!) teams wouldn't use them.
The fact that they don't generate downforce for themselves was interesting to check, just looking at the the angle the wing assumed after breaking (upwards).
I certainly didn't hear James Allan say that however if he did there would be a reason for it.
There seems to be some biase against the commentators where we assume they don't know much. Bear in mind however that these guys are primaraly speaking to laymen idiots who think they are Michael fans because he drives a Ferrari and wins a lot, like their favorite footballer who is really a complete n**head!
I reakon that in Great Britain we have some of the best commentators, at least two of whom used to be drivers (MB and MB), and not just for F1. The BTCC guys are generally Ok and that guy who sings for the WTCC and other Eurosport events seems to know everything about everyone in the world of sport. Countless times he has amazed me from him telling me the backgrounds of maybe 30 Winter Olympic Skiers and within a few weeks similar facts on the Carrera cup guys and WTCC. A few times he has got the driver before I have.
Seriously, quit complaining. We could have it far worse. I think we are all suffering from post-Murrayism but its been 5 years now. Be happy with the great team you've got.
