I think that is just promotional bragging. In 1996 elf confirmed that 1 liter of fuel supplied to Williams costs 300 DM (Deutsch Marks). I guess that today that would mean 300 euros (having in mind how other prices doubled in Germany when DM was replaced with Euro). Even if it remained on same level it would mean 150 e per liter.

fifth gear actually tested out the effects of high octane fuel(the ones in the petrol stations) and there was definate improvement in power for high performance cars such as imprezza and evos.. there was no difference for normal cars.. i read somewhere that this fuel is only going to be offered in a select few petrol stations. and is basically to cater those who wanna go for trackdays ..

ditto. Last year I got through the whole racing season on £10! That was about 8 races I did and I still had half of that left.

Also 5th gear are the deacent one. Tog gear are the if I'm really bored and Sky 1s new 'Vroom Vroom' (Starring Bruno Senna) is clearly aimed at 8 year olds who dream in plastic attachments to the side of a Nova.

ME TOO!!! I get 280miles froma tank (thats 36litres btw) when driving around town. To help achieve this I find that Shell Optimax fuel and Castrol Edge Sport (0W-40) oil works a real treat.

This might be of interest to you guys:

I have done some "independant tests" and found that using neither I got (from a 36litre tank) I got approx 220miles (about 15.8p per mile).

When using the Optimax Fuel I got 240-250miles (15.4p - 14.8p per mile) and using the Optimax Fuel with the new oil I have started getting 280-290 miles (13.2 - 12.8p per mile)

The petrol maybe up to 6p per litre more expensive but as you can see from my figures, by getting an extra 20miles per 36litres from the fuel alone, the extra milage is actually off-setting the extra cost of the fuel, in short - I am actually SAVING money over the course of a year.

Out of interest I used to use Castrol GTX magnatec (before using the Castrol Edge stuff) That costs about £30 per 4litres, and I used all four litres of it after running about 4000miles (ballpark figure), using the new castrol Edge I havent seen any noticeable deline in oil levels for about 1000miles already. So despite the £10 per litre cost of the new oil (against the £7.50 per litre of the GTX Magnatec) It looks like once again I'm saving money by using LESS just by shelling out a litttle bit more per transaction.

I've only run for 1000miles with the new oil so I'm still not 100% certain about what sort of cost-effectiveness that can give me...but its looking promising.

Oh and b4 I go, the test machine is a 1993 Ford Fiesta 5dr hatch, with an inline 1118cc 4cyl. engine.

One other little bit of info...Shell say their optimax fuel gives performance enhancement, castrol say the same about thirt Edge oil, I wouldn't look too much into that, sure I HAVE felt a little bit more power under my foot, but seeing as I have no measureing equipmet I cannot say how much. Put it this way...I can pull out of a side turning a bit more confidently when using the stuff.

Hope u guys found it interesting/useful.[/quote]

My car eats fuel, 5.8 l / 100km/h. I try to drive at least as possible. Despite this, I put RM60 every time fuel. And that gives me a headache

The car is a Proton Perdana 2.0 V6. It's a fuel eater #-o
