I've just heard from a friend that he read in a Belgium newspaper that Renault is accused of spionage. Renault would have stolen secret information of the Scuderia Ferrari. The FIA would have been informed and sanctions would follow. Has anyone else heard anything about this??

I highly doubt that they can find evidence to this, there is always espoinage going in F1, just another case.

If a meeting is held in a building or motorhome, the sound waves strike the glass, and it vibrates. Shine a laser on it from outside, and you can listen in on the conservation. Get counter-espionage agents to monitor the outside, and they may be able to discern that a laser is present.
On a physical communications line like phone lines or fiber optics, the rules of physics state that the message received should be specific to the message sent. Comparing the transmitted message and received message by complex algorithms and you can determine if someone is listening in.
If someone is listening in on the wireless world, they have to have antennaes somewhere, the laws of physics dictate that they have to be so large, and within a certain distance or line of sight. Teams scour likely sites and structures to determine the possibility that antennaes may be present.
Espionage and counter-espionage. When teams spend hundreds of millions of dollars a year, a lot is at stake, and it's cheaper to steal an idea rather than invent it and perfect it, or maybe just know the strategy. And when egos and alpha males are involved, history has proven that sometimes they have invested more in the effort to thwart their foes than logical investment and the return on the effort would say. Yes I would not be at all suprised if renult has played upon ferrari but i remember my father saying stuff like that 20 years ago too, so spionage has been going on probably sice formula one itself...
I dont see how its bad for renault's image. The whole padock is constantly looking for way of making thier cars quicker usually by looking at the oppositions car.
Besides there are many pictures of Michael looking at Mclarens & Renaults after races which he was beaten by them in. Its one of the reasons's Michael is so good, his job dedication is such that he even looks for any designs that he might just spot on his way past...doing his little bit to help.
Espionage has been a part of F1 for a very long time now and the fact that Renault have decoded Ferrari's radio encryption is interesting but I dont think its the first time anybody has done it...its just the first reported case.
F1 teams are clever, there probably other things they've done that we dont know about.
Silence is golden when you don't know a good answer.
If Ferrari and McLaren would allow to have their radio publicised like any other team agreed, they wouldn't be able to shout these rumours around either.
As far as I'm concerned, if you have something to hide, it's your responsibility to keep it from competitors. The thing is, once a car or equipment or methodology leaves the secure confines of the factory, it's vunerable, and eventually the competitors will figure it out. It's just a matter of time. But these are just unfounded accusations by Ferrari they will never be able to prove it. Maybe Ferrari should review it's security policies and change encryption instead of just throwing out accusations to the world press.
