Does anyone else find it hard not to call him Doorknobs?

Well, I dont. But I guess that's because I'm Dutch...

I saw somone calling him door knobs on Speedtv.com, now I can't stop myself.

Don't get me wrong, I rate the guy... last year he was quicker than Albers with less seat time.

Hehe, that's OK. I'm only trying to figure out how you guys come to 'Doorknobs'. But I guess the Dutch pronunciation is misleading me.

Yeah, the same way everybody calls (and sometimes writes...) "Montiero" to Monteiro. Being a fellow countryman really helps the pronunciation! Another side comment: the name Doornbos must be impossible to identify to a foreigner if said with correct pronunciation, I always raise my eyebrows hearing a Dutch pronouncing a Dutch name !!!

If you switch the "b" and the "o" in his name it would read Doornobs.

Which phonetically speaking (huh, inadvertant pun) would sound like door knobs.

This Doorbos = Doornobs most of the time in my head.
