Could STR suprise in Monaco?

Could STR suprise in Monaco?

Monaco has always been a good place for the little teams to shine with a rare point finish or even a podium. That is if their young drivers can finish without painting the armco.

Would the restricted 3.0l V10s in the Toro Rosso cars have some kind of a low end torque advantage to get out of the slowest of the slow corners?

That's indeed a valid theory. they could have that little advantage in low revs torque to perform well... and their a bit outdated aero (due to the basis of last year's Red Bull) should matter there a lot less than elsewhere.

the only problem is they have to wait in line for the points. now with such high reliability. most of the points are snapped up by ferrari,renault,mclaren,honda. then comes williams, toyota and bmw. this season it looks very unlikely for smaller teams to get points.. but i sure hope so!

I also think that Monaco is possibly promissed land for STR. If they don't crash cars or get choked in traffic during qualifying this will be their dream race. Same goes for Williams if their gearbox is really much faster than the rest.

I think Williams gets the credit for apporximately 3000 gear changes in the race for its gearbox. Hmmmm, this a generally slow and tight circuit. Personally I think STR can pull out suprise with their restricted 3.0l Cosworth TJ-2005, with 16,000rpm and Monaco does not demand on powe I think they can finally get their point of the season.

yes, i think they'll do a great job and maybe they could score some points, williams also could do well but don't think so maybe they'll be fighting with hondas and mclarens. The most promising car i see is renault, they have very good traction and that's what you need here

Don't forget the brakes, brakes are worked hard at Monaco. You brake from more than 200km/h down to around 40-60km/h at Nouvelle Chicane.

Monaco is probably the best chance they have to shine.........

I bet Midland start moaning before they even get there

Yeah I agree, good chance for some points but not if any of the other teams don't crash out.
Hopefully Gerhard is telling his drivers just to 'keep their nose clean' and be there at the end of the race.

Did you know that Monaco is named by Heracle Monoikos (Hercules alone)?. It was a temple to Hercules at a crossroad. Most appropriate...

Red bull and VAG have sponsorship deals in almost every other motorsport series that they compete in, so i'm not surprised to see VW have a stake in STR

does anyone know what VW is providing for STR?
