Changing colours?

Post

I found these pictures from today's testing at Paul Ricard.

Is it really Montoya in Raikkonen's car (red top)?

And Kimi in Juan's?

Were they trying to compare the performance of the two cars???

4. Klien Red Bull-Ferrari (M) 1:05.577 50
5. Trulli Toyota (B) 1:05.624 143

New front wing, that's for sure! Look at the 'spoon' section. More square than previously.

Yeh, what I was gonna say ;)

Can't see any reason other than Monaco, looks like a hefty amount of downforce would be produced at the front there, and prob at the back too.

Perhaps they've just switched the helmets
Helmets are fitted individually for the driver though, aren't they? Surely wearing each other's would be uncomfortable.
And what's with half the alphabet on the sidepod?

Yes, they are fitted individually. But what did they switch, and why? Cars, some part of it, or just paint?

Well, Couthard borrowed Schuey's helmed 10 years ago and drove whole race with it.

That's strange. I wonder what is the most plausible, switching helmets or customized seats... I think helmets wear different sponsors sometimes, and I think it's part of the driver's contract to be seen with it. Maybe you're right ignis, they may have decided to compare cars performance after some JPM ranting :) In bahrein he was complaining his car was slower than Kimi's, and here he beat him...

Typically, sponshorship is not on the cars as they're tested, regardless of who the sponsor is. There are exceptions, of course. The sponsors pays to have their name on the cars during race weekend.
