Davidson to SA?

Post

Found it on the ITV website, it says SA wants Davidson in 2007. Race seat or what is the question, Anthony has been waiting for a race long ago. But will he get what he want in SA in 2007?

The article
Aguri Suzuki is hoping that Honda will allow him to sign Anthony Davidson to his Super Aguri team in 2007.

The highly-rated Davidson has spent the past four years as Honda's test driver, racing just three times in that period despite impressing mightily with his speed and feedback.

In an interview in the latest issue of F1 Racing magazine (on sale next week), Suzuki revealed that he wants his team to be the one that finally gives Davidson a full-time racing chance.

"Maybe next year," said Suzuki.

"Next year Anthony would be fantastic for us.

"He has the experience to help us make real progress."

Suzuki admitted that Davidson's destiny is likely to be in Honda's hands.

"I'll have to discuss it with Honda," he said.

"Ultimately, it's up to them really."

Honda Racing president Yasahiro Wada has already indicated that Davidson could be moved to the heavily Honda-backed Aguri squad in the future.

"I would certainly recommend Super Aguri to take Davidson," Wada-san said at an international media dinner in Imola.

Monty started at Williams, Kimi in Sauber, Alonso in Minardi and Nick Heifeld would have his worst nightmare with Prost.

Williams was by no means a small team; very much considered a championship contender at the time. Even now, I would not class them as small fry. Monty arrived full of hype and promise from the US scene and was, by no means a beginner.

Back to Davidson; nice idea - I had never thought of this one. You would have to ask what he would gain from racing an SA. First, he MUST beat Sato - but Sato's stock is not exactly high, so who would sit up and take notice. He could only hope that Honda people would start to see him as a better bet in the works drive than Rubens...........

Honda and BAR didn't gave him a seat, it's a very good idea for him to move to another team see if he can find a seat for him self. He raced in 2002 with Minardi for a few races, if he goes to SA, what if he offers $7-9million for the seat at SA. Maybe some one would take his offer and let him drive, but I suspect $8-10million. Doornbos paid $15million for his seat at RBR, maybe Davidson can offer a beeter price? Who knows?

At least he managed to qualify a marvellous 7th at Spa, then he was caught by Flavio. Schuey immediately showed his pace in the Benetton team, the car is probaly not fast but enough to earned him a win in SPa 1992.

Actually Davidson was offered the seat last year, but he chose to stay at honda because he knew his career would not jump off with SA and might bring his name down. I honestly think he was waiting for a good team to race with or just sticking it out with Honda for a open spot.
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.
