Aren't there private formula libre series in existence? Just only for individuals, nothing pro racing teams are associated with?

Seems like Can Am, like lots of cool crap, went out with the 70s.

I'm completely happy with Formula One (with the exception of DRS, and mandatory use of tire compounds) and it's rules. It shouldn't change the rules, but it should change the way the cars are. I'd like to see cars with lower downforce, and lower power, but more technology allowed in the cars, like TC. '00's car tech with '80's style cars.

I'm really excited to see IndyCar in 2013, with the different teams making different aero packages, using different engines. It'll be a good series to watch.

+1 except I'd move that bracket slightly further. I'm completely happy with Formula One (with the exception of DRS, and mandatory use of tire compounds and it's rules).

A return of the Chaparral cars would be nice. A formula that allowed a snow mobile engine to bolted on to the car to power a fan sounds bonkers, and a lot of fun.

They even had a moveable wing to reduce drag on the straights. Sound familiar?

Brought to the track on open trailers towed by pickup trucks....

Nothing stays the same.
