Red Bull RB8 Renault (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Through the year they tested a huge number of endplates if I remember correctly. They had 3 or 4 (including launch spec) that were tossed around in preseason testing before the final, "Melbourne spec" was fitted onto the car.

I'm not sure its even that, look how non of the logos are central on the nose. The nose doesn't look right at all

these logo's are actually centered, due to the more rounded nature of the nose it seems like the logo's are to the right although they are not

Definitely an RB7, but I think the original pic was pre-Infiniti sponsorship. Looks like the Infiniti logos have been photoshopped in... poorly. Look at the logo on the side of the cockpit. It's not even at the right angle.

Here's the original image, it's simply 1 of the RB7 launch pics, which was poorly photoshopped to include the then new sponsor Infiniti.

I think I will confidently predict that Red Bull's exhausts will be blowing over the rear brake ducts.

How? Unless they're planning periscope break ducts, they can't, the exhausts must be above a certain height (about the top of the wheels); they must point upwards at between 10 and 30° to horizontal, and they must have no bodywork in a cone, 10° either side of the pipe exit, obstructing them until the front surface of the rear wing.

Finally, why wold you want to aim 800°C gas at a duct that's there to cool the breaks.

i thought they had to be above the centre point of the rear wheel? and if the brake ducts are ducted from the bottom with air scooped in why cant they aim it at which i guess with be agressive aero pieces that you normally see hanging off the brake ducts

I was thinking, could the exhausts blow the beam wing??? If so id recon thats where Newey will be trying to blow this year.

Wheel width: 305 - 355mm.
Minimum ride height: 80mm.
Minimum start of the last 100mm of exhaust: 200mm above the reference plane.
Minimum upward angle 10°.
Closest positioning of the *rear* of the tail pipe to the rear wheel centre line: 500mm.

Here's a diagram of all of that, assuming you do everything you can to manage to point the exhaust at the break duct. This is all to scale.
