Ferrari F2012 (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Heat 'dispersant' from what I hear, its being use to cool the car.
And some Zirotech coatings!

A company producing "high thermal conductivity prepregs"

http://www.p2si.com/prepregs/overview.html

maybe the rumerod new material on f2012 is something along those lines.

Found on the net some interesting stuff about high thermal conductivity epoxy resins also.

edit: it seems that this type of composites are explicitly forbidden in the 2012 fia rules

But does it transfer heat? It seems not. Correct me if I'm wrong.

No Zirotech is isolation material but is just with sense of pointing heat transfer on the right place and prevend inflamnation!

It looks like a normal engine intake airbox without the bodywork over the top. Nothing strange that I can see.

Look at it relative to the size of the driver's head supports – it actually looks about 1.5 times the size, compared to the F150°'s is about 2-3 times the size. So if anything, it's on the small side.

Could someone explain what is going on in that picture please?

I presume they have a helmet, cockpit and airbox on the engine in order to simulate air flow into the engine?
