Mercedes AMG F1 W03 (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Here is another article of the interview. Haug is definitely suggesting the F-duct FW or what ever you want to call it.

"
"We have a very nice solution, a very dynamic," says Haug.

I take it that referred to the sculpting of the step in the nose. I expect no F-Duct. It is a hoax, most probably.

i think this is the shape of the nose, the connection between the thick part and the thin one is diagnal

It may very well be. I think Brawn & Co are fairly confident about this season. I expect them to do rather well, not WDC or WCC but definitely podiums & possibly a win or 3.
Interested to see what Haug's definition of "dynamic" is. :)

HA! Yes, I am interested in his interpretation of that word too now. :D

Apparently Adrian Newey thought that Mercedes has found something that would be very easy to copy which was why they didn't bring the car to the first test.
From what little I can see from today's images there isn't anything drastically different on this car to any others we've seen.
Does anyone want to specualate what Mercedes may have found? If it's easy to copy I assume it must be fairly visible so is probably something aerodynamic rather than something hidden under the bodywork, and presumably it'll wouldn't require major changes to the car such the f-duct or double diffuser. I would also assume it's not any fancy suspension etc. as that would take time to copy. The f-duct front wing might be it but people have been talking about that for months so it's hardly a surprise and apparently very hard to get working correctly.
So what could it be?

Looking at that little pic on the front page here, it looks like Merc is having a little bit of burnt bodywork syndrome too.

Apparently that was a dumb rumour spread by tabloids with nothing else to do. If you read back you will find that actually the W03 will be as expected.

Might help get more of a 3D feel for the car...

This is like watching blurry-bad low-res porn. You know something's going on, but you are not sure what, and it isn't satisfactory.

edit: hope I didn't offend, i meant all the pictures/videos of today's shakedown.

As i said on this thread, i am a Mclaren fan and i do not like Alonso and i do not like Ferrari

And after reading a bit, i think i know how to act:

Mercedes is the best, and the W03 will be the best car ever.

Well I knew it. This sort of intelligence can only be displaced by a Mclaren and Hamilton FAN . The whole Mercedes is the best & W03 is the best car even is a ridiculous opinion. The car has not debuted. We have not even seen the car properly.

Store your sarcasm for some other place.
Where in my post did i say Hamilton? I am pretty sure i did not mention that name, but it seems that you are the inteligent one here and you can read things that i have not written

I posted an opinion (this year's mercedes will be a disappointment, because last year it was exactly the same as this one) and looks like some opinions are not wellcome. People told me that I am a fanboy, that i am stupid, that... Well, i won't write anymore here

Thanx you. People sometimes have just opinions you know :D

The man who filmed the video could describe some details about the car. From pictures taken out of video can't really see much more that some of you already pointed out. The stepped nose seems to have more rounded area bellow. But again this could only be optical illusion. We will have to wait to see some better photos.
