Mercedes AMG F1 W03 (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Don't take my prognostications too seriously. I'm a McLaren fan, after all - narcissism of small differences and all that.

Hah! So I was right, at least about the front-swept sidepods. And I think the exhaust is sort of Ferrari-like, or at least they're using the same concept as Ferrari and McLaren. Not as far outboard as I thought it was. And while the nose isn't nearly as boxy, it is squared off like the Ferrari.

So there.

Exhaust seems quite far forward there?

Makes you wonder what the aero department at Ferrari where thinking with the abruptness of it.

That's definitely a 3 element FW, and it has the Mclaren/RB style R-winglet, although, it seems to be a unique take on it. The front wing looks like a very major revision. I see very few similarities.

Those sidepods are definitely very low and tight, and exhausts look like my latest revision, which I am yet to launch

Pullrod rear suspension, and Pushrod front suspension, spotted some new bargeboards also.

Very nice to finally have some clarity :)

Wow!!!
nice!
From the cars with stepped nose these one is the best looking. it's a nice design solution of the nose.
Very long car with a very long engine cover!

Interesting.
Exhaust position is for filming only or it's continuation of canon exhaust idea from last season?

I don't think it looks anything like those solutions.

What would be the benefit of this exhoust layout?
Ferrari maybe coanda effect, RB is blowing the suspention arms and diverting exhoust flow...

A very compact rear end. Or, if you prefer, a nice, tight ass.
