I thought too that they will miss tomorrow as well. Noway they would have flown the chasis down to Barca & have it ready to race that quickly.

Bad idea to try the 2nd chasis. Missed a whole God Damn Test.
Great idea to test the 2nd chassis – they uncovered a design flaw that would have bitten them in the ass at the first race if they'd not ;). Note, the flaw is present in the 1st chassis too – it just didn't show up so easily there.

We don't even know the severity of the flaw so it might not even be as serious some people on here make it out to be. Let's wait until something official comes up to label it as disastrous. But Montmelo is definitely an important test to miss out on, nonetheless.

To be honest, the only reason I can imagine them pulling out of the test for, would be if they were putting drivers lives in danger.

Guess you are right. Should be something serious. Missing a Whole Test is not good but guess that is the only option they have.

Lotus situation is interesting... kind of like what McLaren did last year. And what about Force India on wet tires today? What is that about?

edit: disregard i didnt know they are gonna miss the rest of the Barcelona test.

Thx !

Still good to see them do the runs without issues so far.
Although not surprising given the fact they are running last years car.

Aren't they able to use the 3 days that they haven't used later?

They are however allowed to do one track day because of it though, IIRC.

Do you have any information, on what tyres Perez did his stint from laps 45-66 and Hamilton his from laps 60-78?

Interesting reading on the BBC sport website;
McLaren team manager Dave Redding described it as "a very productive day. The car ran reliably and without problem all day and Lewis was happy with the car."

Vettel said he had been impressed by the McLaren's pace on longer runs on several laps at a time, and the times bear out that impression.

Direct comparisons are dangerous because the fuel loads of the cars are not known and 10kg of fuel equates to 0.35secs of lap time.

However, Vettel's longest run, of 10 consecutive laps, was done in an average of 1:30.12, while Hamilton did a 16-lap run in an average of 1:28.662.
