The teams tend to use the afternoon for race sims.
What do you think about Nico's times in the race simulation. I saw Webber's & MSC's yesterday but I did not follow Vettel & Hamilton's. You did follow that too.

with all these impressive lap times coming from last year's mid field teams, does it mean that the Caterham will be stuck as the best of the "new" teams?

That new Benz is incredibly quick compared to yesterday's race sim so I'm guessing they uncorked the engine or simply figured out a better race setup. The final stint is every bit as quick as Webber's yesterday. IMpressed

W03 seems to have a different solution for the diffuser than other cars. F2012, RB8, MP4-27 have the same solution design for the diffuser.
I'm right?

Nico's average Lap time is 1.26.2 Odd. Dont know, calculation could be wrong.

Anyways Vettel's average was 1.27.453
Hamilton's average 1.28.774
Webber's average 1.28.978
MSC's average 1.29.865

THIS is DAMN QUICK. And probably the quickest race simulation thus far in Barca. I think Mercedes will overtake Mclaren & Force India this year.

Yeah...a lot of setup work i think which can contribute. what are the ambient temps.
If anything, it tells me how good MSC's feedback from yesterday was, and implemented today!

Hey,
I'm new on this forum.

Don't forget that track conditions is a huge factor. Button said yesterday that 11h30 to 15h30 local time is the best moment for hard tyres. And Nico run hard tyres most of his simulation.

I have follow Maldonado's one as well. After the first stint (1.30/1.31 in average) he was close to match Nico lap times.
His fastest lap of race sim is 1'24.6 compare to 1'24.0 for Nico.
That's massively faster that Webber fastest lap yesterday, and I don't think that the Williams is suddenly better than the Red Bull !

Last year's fastest lap of the Barcelona race was 1:26.727. And that was with a full blown diffuser. The average lap from Vettel (winner), discounting the pit stops, was 1:28.8. So i don't believe that Mercedes (or Red Bull, or Mclaren) can improve that average lap time for a two seconds and a half, as Rosberg did.
Hamilton an Webber's average lap-time i think is more real than Rosberg's one

Don't understand, how you get Noco's average 1.26.2? Only 7 laps from his race sim are below that...

The track condition makes a big impact. The tires are new this year (better).

I think (and this is only a hunch) that the cars will be faster than last years cars, or if not, pretty much the same in terms of outright pace. And i think Merc has pulled the gap closer to the front runners (i think so) because of their speculated EEDD( exhaust enhanced double diffuser). The tires are much better, and the temps on track is cooler than during the summer months...all factors that make a difference.
Oh...and that lap average of 1.26.2 is not correct. Its more like 1.27.6

Indeed, Mr. S I suspect, just counted the number of minutes that Nico was doing the run for, not the number of laps.

I wonder, Mr. S, how does your prediction sit now? Are Mercedes still second fastest?

I have to say, it is rather upsetting that Caterham are still a good 3 - 4 seconds per lap off race pace. I was hoping this year, with the EBD out of the equation, that it would balance the pack a bit more - seems not.

Anybody got the splits available to them?

Just wondering what Massa's were on the super softs? Wondering if the reason he only did installations was to disguise their pace.
