Very difficult to get in to. Very few jobs availible in the industry. Ive just finished a Motorsport Engineering Degree and there are just too many people for too fewer jobs. You need to make yourself stand out. You won;t get in without experiance, so starting in lower formulas in the UK would be a good idea.

You say even as a test technician - That is a very highly sought after job. Formula one is also not as glamarous as it looks, a few friends work for different teams, they all work rediculous hours for pretty much minimum pay.

However if you really want it, send letters - or better go in and ask to speak to people face to face - show your enthusiasm; a friend sent 15 letters to the same team before he got in, and he had a 1st class degree, practical experianced, coupled with the fact he did his work experiance summer at the same team the prior year!

Good Luck!

Most teams advertise in the back of Autosport magazine too.

Why don't you take a look to their websites? If you do not have a degree yet, not sure where, but I remember an offer for a truck driver less than two months ago (McLaren or Williams maybe?). Not sure about the team but I swear I saw it. I guess you will find similar offers on other teams in different categories. Looking for circuits near your home and looking for the teams that compete there can do no harm.

For those of you that may complain about the lack of offers, or that are thinking of "steering" your career by looking for internships in lesser teams (ehem....) I post in its entirety the Midland career offers for the last six months. For example, you could start to learn how to program a Mitutoyo C.M.M., whatever it is... Hurry up! Time is running! :)
