HRT F112 Cosworth

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The F112's have arrived :)

So much for good old Joe Saward saying that the cars wouldn't arrive in Australia...

Where you took the picture from? I remember a very similar (if not the same) from last year... that's why I'm asking, just to confirm is an actual picture of the car from this year, not an old one...

The rims match and also the carrying case, as seen in the "garage picture" posted before. So looks like at least they have one car there :)

its a shame they are still using the cosworth engine. I would like to have seen what this car would do with another powerplant.

It depends whether you believe HRT's performance is chassis limited or engine limited. To put it simply a good chassis can compensate for a weaker engine. The converse, however, does not hold true. If you are not to young I would cast your mind back to the 1988 season. The McLaren MP4/4 won 15 out of 16 races, yet Lotus was nowhere with the same twin turbo Honda V6.

That looks like a modren looking wee motor in the chassis view.

However you can see how thin their roll hoop is, and no wonder they failed the roll hoop test first time.

The engine is just one piece, but is true that a more powerful engine allows you to run more draggy configurations that can add more downforce without penalizing top speed.
On the other hand, Caterham seems to be struggling with the heat from the Renault engine, forcing they to have not such a smooth rear...

So many factors to consider...
