I like that comment. It seems that you understand my chain of thought.

Now a question. Maybe someone can help me:
Is it possible, that the R18 has non adjustable anti roll bars? Neither in the technical description nor at pictures I can find any advice for adjusting the ARB. A racing car with a fix ARB?

Dr.Ulrich of Audi Motorsports isn´t he austrian? I almost bet you would be able to get at least some detail pictures from Audi when asking friendly..
some years ago i had some access to details of audis Sportscar hardware but that´sover.

ah ,on mulsannescorner mike has recalculated the R18s dimensions ,maybe you crosscheck there .Good pictures of the rear end gearbox ducting suspension there to be found in the news section (archives)..

the best opportunities to see and take pictures is always Goodwood ...:

Yeah, Dr. Ulrich is austrian. I cannot imagine, that Audi will send me detail pics, because of secrecy. If they would send me pictures, I'll show that details to everyone by rebuilding them in my car.
From where do you have this picture of the cockpit area? I did not knew that (eve if I browsed the web). Have you more of them?

After a long time without building, now here's the new update.

The car is closed now.


Here you can see the dashboard panel. It has 110 parts. For comparison, here's a picture of the real one: Click
Beneath you can see an electronic unit. I guess it's the ECU (Engine Control Unit).


A pipe of the ventilation system.


The first parts are fitted inside the cockpit. Battery, toolbox, ECU and the dashboard panel.


A few from the drivers side.


The single damper and the have spring/damper. For comparison of sizes, there's a twenty pence coin (diameter of about 22.5mm).

Hello guys!

There's much progress in the cockpit area. Since the last post I added two additional electrical devices (both of them I'm not sure about their function - one of them should be the radio), the cleaning agent reservoir with line to the (still missing) windscreen, the cover behind the windscreen, seat with it's belts, the headrest (not mounted yet), door stop and a few stickers (trackmap, ACO accreditation, organiser).
Yeah, the cockpit area comes to an end quite soon. What's missing? Headrest padding, steering wheel and cameras. After that I'll cover the monocoque outside before starting with the V6 engine.

Now you can clearly see where the winscreen will be attached to the raw chassis.


The R18's seat compared to the RB7 one. A bit bigger, but the width is the same.


The headrest (which should protect the diver in an event of a side crash). The red bottle is for drinking I guess.


Seat is in the monocoque now, at the left hand side (right hand on the picture) you can see a few new parts.


The angular bowl at the side wall is the cleaning agent reservoir with it's pump and line to the wind screen.

Hi folks!

After I’ve finished the cockpit, I started coating the whole shape of the monocoque with the carbon-fibre texture. Almost the whole monocoque is unpainted, so later you’ll see a hell lot of CF. Only the front roll over structure and the top are painted. I also started with the underbody, I need that for dimensioning the engine (-block).

Carbon fiber acts! This looks insanely good. At the front roll over structure you can see the cuttings for the door hinges.


Viewed from the rear. For sure the whole holes for diverse wires, fuel system, engine mounting points and so on are missing.


A short close-up view in the cockpit with the mounted headrest.


First picture with the underbody. That car gets insane wide…
