The day has come for HRT Formula 1 Team to officially open its doors to the new headquarters at the Caja Mágica in Madrid. The team has been preparing the move since last winter and even decided to skip the most recent Formula One test at Mugello to complete the move to Madrid.
This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
I recon that a name change is only a few months away. Lets get 3 initials that are used as medicine for women out of the sport.
Lets get something a little more Latin but fast sounding as a name.
There has been long rumors that Telephonica and Repsol are ready to supply and sponsor the team, and the only think is standing in their way is the name on the point ive mentioned above and the other being it is still associated with the Carbonate family.
This is a small team trying hard to clense itself of its past with Campos and Carbonate, but it it trying to become Spains fisrt propper F1 team in the most challenging economic conditions you can have. I am giving them time, thats all they need, time.
If they can get all they need from the Caja Majica and keep the tunnel aggreememt with Mercedes AMG, and the Williams Transmission and eithr the Renault or Williams KERS but just add a Renault power plant to the package i think they will be going fine. I think they will habve a Renault engine next year on the engine front as i think Marussia will have a Mercedes and McLaren rear end so this will only keep them on par with Marussia when it comes to power and a good rear package.
The team is trying to find its feet, dont kick it when it is learning to crawl as thats just cruel. The 3 new in 2010 teams needed arround 3 or 4 years before they bridged the gap to the midfeild. So far they have almost got there, but i think they will all need another 2 years before being concidered part of the sport and embedded in the sport to a decent level. Ill say that 2014 they will start really making strides into F1 and making the sport propperly tight from P1 to P24.
-marussia came into the sport -as a prerequisite for getting an engine deal for their roadcars...Cosworth started only to work for them after they had comitted to Virgin ....would they drop cosworth now who brought them into it? i think cosworth would have to stop the supply first ....
A Renault Engine deal next year? That would set them back an eye gouging €20 million a year. I don't see that happening. Their priority should be to hire their own design staff rather than comissioning designs from companies with little or no open wheel experience.
I am glad that he is bringing some sponsor ship otherwise he would never be in F1. The article attacks HRT too much for no reason but it still doesn't explain how come Narain always manages to finish behind his team mate. Whats that saying again ? Bad craftsman blame their tools.

Renault wouldnt cost €20m would it, more like €10m?
Maybe the 20 mil is for 2014!........which would be absurd......
What does an engine deal cost today?
Caubet stated in an interview that Renaults expenditure in 2011 on engine development was euro 140 million. That cosisted of an internal investment of 80 million with the shortfall being payed by their customers. Even with 4 teams if RBR get free engines the cost is still 20 million. If other teams sign to Renault the cost would come down but I doubt other manufacturers would be keen on such a monopoly.
AFAIK the most cost effective engine remains the Cosworth CA2012.
