strange season so far, Alonso defintely shining the brightest, Vettel? where is Vettel?, Webber left the low altitude airspace and is 2nd in the WDC atm, but will he be champion? is he a champion? did he ever look young? i don't know, the recipe is there for Webber, but I don't think he will win it. Raikkonen, is there, will win but is he fast enough? Grosjean is too far away, Hamilton well, I think it is Game Over for him now. Rosberg...:P no way.
It will be Alonso! CENTO PER CENTO! But one Gp win for Massa, Ok? grazie
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

I think Vettel. Alonso is driving immaculately, but I don't think it'll be enough. I think the Red Bull is coming on song now, and are at the very least competitive on sweeper circuits, and they are somewhat demonic in slow corners.

Sadly I don't think Webber will beat Vettel over the course of a season - and taking these two assumptions into account, I say Vettel

yes! seconded :P
And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.

Providing this doesn't turn into another 2010 season in which Vettel loses victories left and right due to technical faillures, he should be able to make it a triple. Otherwise, Alonso. I don't see McLaren making the overhaul AND Hamilton being consistent enough to catch up.

How will he make it a tripple? Just how? When you have Alonso, Webber and Grosjean in equally fast cars? Can't see it. He is not even matching Webber in qualifying now.. so it is going to be hard for him, even if Newey pulls out a magic rabbit Webber understands the car just as good this time around. No more scampering off into the distance like Valencia where the Pirelli wheels of fortune rolled his way.

Alonso can win it. He has the best team around him, number 1 status. He will keep podiuming as long as his car is good on the tyres. He will be hard to beat. Only raw unadulterated speed can beat Alonso this year.

Hamilton is the dark horse at this point. But his own team fighting a silent battle against him. He is their only "star driver." The only one who can drive the car on the limit. With Pitstop problems now sorted, will mclaren manage to draw even in the development race giving Hamilton a chance to win on equal grounds? I highly doubt it. Looks like another year of no championship for Mclaren thanks to cancerous charms of Button.

Grosjean. The other dark horse. I tout him highly. If he can only keep clean in qualifying and race starts I can see him posing a reall threat to Alonso. The Lotus is the best car. He can do it if he transcends that barrier into "Elite driver." It won't be easy, but I think he will do it - the next Michael Schumacher.

Alonso was gifted his two wins and I don't rate them at all - Vettel crapped out and Perez blew it. Alonso, the man in the right place at the right time. Alonso is lucky. Yes, luck plays a part in F1, but's he's lucky. Nothing he did won the races as opposed to the others drivers throwing it away. RBR is the car that's been the most consistent and looks the most ominous. Ask any of the drivers this year which car they would prefer to be in......

Lotus and Alonso are in the hunt but it'll be a turn-up for the ages if RBR don't close this off now.

The only way I see Alonso being beaten at the moment is McLaren suddenly getting their car sorted. Even if the RBR get their car very sorted, Vettel and Webber will fight and take points off each other.

My dollar is on Alonso for the WDC.

I agree with bob...Webber and Vettel will fight for position/points.

Mclaren may play a part in all of this if they sort the evil car gremlins!
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Sounds like Nadal fans saying Federer doesn't deserve his Wimbly this year because Nadal crashed out in second round. What fault of Alonso's is it if others blew their races?

Well, fighting all the way from 11th to 3rd or holding your car in rain when others couldn't sort themselves out is in noway "Nothing done"... I would agree that RBR failing at the same race is luck, but that takes nothing out of what Alonso has done consistently in every other race and what he deserves.

RBR looked ominous only in the last two races-Valencia and Silverstone when they ran away from the field and closed down the field so dramatically, respectively. They were not the best right from race 1. Had not Massa screwed up the first 5 races, Ferrari could have stolen some points from RBR.. That would have made RBR even more less dominant... I mean, Ferrari would have almost equalled RBR in every race inspite of being a poor car.... [/quote]

If someone asked me before Valencia, I would have vouched for Alonso with my eyes closed... Now, I say RBR is looking strong with the recent updates and they might score big in the European leg of the season... But still, Alonso has the best chance followed by Vettel.

Going by your analogy, it would be correct for Malaysia. Valencia, it would be closer to Nadal's racket developing a hole big enough for the tennis ball.

To be fair - that's when they upgraded their car with the new ducts. Anything before that was done with a pre-upgrade car. Also, RBR have been consistently competitive at every race since Bahrain, bar Spain. (Bahrain pole-win, Monaco almost-pole, win, Canada pole, almost-win, Valencia, Silverstone, you just mentioned.

:) They blew themselves, anyway...

Edit: Not denied. As I said, since their updates have started coming in they've looked better and hence will score big. As Bob said, Vettel and Webber will fight and take points off each other. So Alonso for me all the way :D

This is my thinking too. Red Bull are getting faster all the time, Alonso will be there or there abouts but I see a similar situation to 2009 unfolding. Webber choking, Alonso not quite having a good enough car and Vettel sneaking the title.

Anybody but Vettel this year is what I want.

Newey won´t win another WDC. He will win the WCC this year though.

And next year he won´t win a thing. History will tell us that :)

Are you referring to Mika's two WDC and then failing to win 2000?
