This looks like Mario Kart F1. If I am correct it could be awesome. If I had a console I would buy this

Lol Very funny, I quite enjoyed it!
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

I'm pretty excited for this game. Looks like good fun. If I wanted a sim I know where to get it, and this scratches the itch for a fun pick-up-and-play arcadey Formula 1 game. Wish they'd release actual game footage though, that might sway me towards or away from it.

Why buy this when there are dedicated cutesy kart games around? The fact that Codemasters had to develop this indicates that the F1 licence alone is not good enough for them. It only really works if you can make the characters' attributes in the game reflect what they are like in real life but I don't think the teams will allow this. Reminds me of this:

'Others, however, felt that while the game was mechanically sound, the Star Wars setting and appearance felt "tacked on" and therefore a dirty ploy to make money for LucasArts'

Codemasters needs to develop a brand new engine.

After Forza 4, they are severely lacking.

Edit: I mean that after Forza 4 came out, it became really obvious that Codemasters has been doing a bare minimum with their F1 games. If anything they look worse than the last non-Codemasters F1 game to come out back in I believe 2007 for the PS3.
Both of them are complete jokes in terms of physics.
anyone remember the f1 games in the late 90s on the original playstation..

much more features than todays codemasters ones that are all glamour and little content.

wheres commentary? i remember murrary walker and martin brundle commentating on your race back on the ps1 ffs...

Played this at gamescom and it's awesome!
Granted, it's not Mario Kart, but of all the non-Mario Kart games, it is one of if not the best. I also love all the little touches, and at the start of the race, you kind of have every driver from back to front point/wink at eachother, sort of like a wave; definitely going to buy this one.

Aside from the horrible, horrible, horrible commentary (why don't you remember how horrible it was?) what features do you feel are missing?

F1 is for more than the hardcore adult fans, makes sense to push things that will get kids hooked at a young age, so this game, Mclaren's cartoons etc are all decent marketing tools with which to capture new fans into the sport.

Don't see the need to make issue out of this really!

I reckon Live for Speed is the best racing sim an amazing physics engine.
