Honda 2007 spec at Monza

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Honda 2007 spec at Monza

Post

According to Autosport.com Honda will introduce a new engine with a different shape and different exhaust configuration at the next race.
The engine requires a modified chassis (at the back I guess).

Tests start at Monza this week...

Hmm, laying the foundation for the expected engine freeze....
I expect other teams to introduce their own last iterations before the freeze.

Now that Honda has a win, they will probably not be as competitive this year as they introduce this new package. But in the long run, it will pay off.

Honda always bring a new, powerful engine @ Monza,
but they blow it always too!

Completely untrue. Since 2000 the only DNF of a BAR-Honda in Monza were in 2000 because of electrical problem and 2003 when Jenson had problems with the gearbox.

Maybe not always, I don't have under my eyes the history of recent years, I just remember words of italian commentary (maybe forged)...

So, let's see this year with the V8...

LOL, then your italian commentary doesn't know what he is talking about...

Was I wrong?

Three minutes after opening fp1,
session red flagged to clear the Honda of Anthony Davidson, which has stopped on track with smoke coming from the rear of the car.

Honda v8 spec 2007 lasts 3 minutes!

An engine which blow up after one and half a lap is suspicious for sure. Note that neither Rubens nor Jenson adventured themselves on the track after that.

I wonder if SA will benefit of this last spec before the end of the season.

There's another things I'd like to know: How many engines are brought to a GP event for a three cars team? Is there a limit fixed by the rules? Is it possible that a team that rushed to introduce a last spec find themself lacking replacement engines after few blow up?

Of course you were wrong, you said they "always" blow up in Monza, this was the first time and on the third car at the first friday practice.
Even if they blow their engines on the first lap of the race sunday, at least they are trying, if they don't succeed in bringing the reliability up on this engine they will lodge the Turkey specification, so you don't to be so sarcastic in your replies, but I guess you're Italian  .

When I logged into the live timing and saw what Davidson did with his new engine, I just remembered what I posted in this forum, so I couldn't help posting a sarcastic paragraph!

Hmm... pics from XPB (may appear later in autosport.com) show big lumps (and lots of smaller bits looking like silver gravel) of engine casing stuck to the floor. Judging from the shape and position of the biggest piece it looks like a rods gone through the casing at the front pair of cylinders.

Ouch....!
