Given the issues of Safety and the sheer amount of cost, weight, material, technology that goes into 'supporting' an onboard driver; wouldn't it be fun to see what would happen if the F1 cars were designed to be driven by Remote Control.
The Telemetry Data feedback (cameras, diagnostics etc) is substantial these days and should be able to cope with most conditions.
The driving skills and tactics would have to change drastically too, as any propogation delay in control/feedback would require Drivers to concentrate further ahead of their position to prevent collisions etc.
