Recruiting (Volunteers) for my new project

Post

Ok, I've eluded to it before but now the wheels truly are in motion as I begin a new (somewhat larger) project.

Now as the more astute of you may have picked up i'm far from your average text book learner, I crave the experience both positive and negative to find out what works, and what doesn't.

At the moment I'm not looking to go public as such with this project because it's going to take a fair bit of work to get it close to tarmac, but once we've got to a certain level I do intend on keeping the world of F1technical up to date.

So, I'm looking for some people that are keen to get involved on a consultancy level.

The areas and these may at first look pretty all encompassing are,

Safety Systems, Familiarity with MSA/FIA standards would be advantageous

Suspension/tyre gurus This is an area I know very little about so I'm after all the help I can get.

I'm also after someone to help with electronics, I've got a guy in a similar position to myself already involved and I'd ideally like to get you working with them.

I see this whole project as a fantastic thing to put down on your CV whether you're a University Young gun or someone who's winding down but is finding it difficult to just stop.

Anyway, drop me a PM or leave some info here and lets see if we can push things forward.

Thank you so much! Some really fantastic responses both on the forum and in my PM inbox.

Still lots of room for anyone else that would like to get involved though so keep it coming.

.. and for those who are interested in progress in the mysterious project, I'll keep you all up to date when we get to the juicy bits!

Thanks for your continued support Carlos, I've Pm'd you.

Is there anybody out there with a particular eye for safety? I want to make sure our driver, whether that's me or someone with a little bit more of a proven track record is safe.

I've had a great response so far, so thanks everybody for your support, it's really appreciated.

Though I don't know much, I would like to help.

I have suspension software, a little bit of knowledge of solidworks and can do Matlab/Simulink.

Oh, I'm in 3rd year of Electronics Engineering.

Bye!

Well, I work in road safety, so I'll probably recommend to you to change the track design, put some signs and repave...

Besides, I can tell you where in the track you will crash.

Hope that's helpful (at least, this keeps the thread alive).

Sorry guys, past few days have been crazy both in (paid) work and everything else.

Plus I kept assuming that no one had commented as it had dropped off the homepage, but that's the problem when everyone's in a different time zone and we're in the run up to the F1 season.

Anyway, I can't thank you all for coming forward, it's fantastic. Keep the messages and PM's coming.

Yes, things have taken a while to move any further forward, but the series I was hoping to enter, somewhat ambitiously, appears to have folded, then my various other projects have got in the way.

Anyway, not wanting to give too much away...

...Does anybody know where to find a comprehensive list of automotive speed records? I'm not so interested in outright speed records as such, I mean, it's easy enough to find out what Thrust SSC achieved I'm just interested in distances covered by 4 wheeled, motorised (be it petrol, ev whatever) over 24hr.

All I seem to find through google is that a Renault Zoe did 1000miles in 24hours. :?

Thanks in advance!

there are too many different rules classes ect. the best you will find is to pick a sanctioning body and go from there. If you are free next weekend we head to the salt. http://www.scta-bni.org/Bonneville/Reco ... ecords.htm

Oh Flyn, you are good!

Bonneville is on my to do list - one day :)

For now it's a circuit record endurance record I want to have a look at, but only something low powered for the time being.
