Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone told BBC Sport the race would "definitely" not happen, before saying that it would if the track were ready in time.
Race president Tom Cotter insisted the track was ahead of schedule.
But on Saturday, when asked by the BBC News Channel's Inside F1 programme if New Jersey would happen, Ecclestone said: "No. Definitely, no."

It's Ecclestone being Ecclestone and nothing else. That's is his way of telling other aspiring hosts to have their money ready "just in case." Otherwise, there's a contract, and F1 will be there next year if there's a circuit.

And because the Governor of New Jersey, that gelatinous blob seen below, wants to waddle for president in four years, he's going to do all he can to make sure it gets done, as it will be his only foreign policy experience. That is, unless you include his frequent trips The International House of Pancakes.

I find it interesting how the Guv, when not attacking all public employees for "wasted" money, has the time to extol the virtues of holding a F1 race. That in reality is a colossal waste of money --even though I live not too far from where it will take place-- due to Ecclestone's ransom price for holding a race. Somehow I have this feeling the state of NJ will wind up footing some of the bill for this race. But that's ok, Guv Crispie Creme will justify it as being essential to the state.

Of course. And since the state's budget deficits have, amongst other things, led to severe cuts in public services statewide - Camden, a city that annually battles Detroit for the title, "Murder Capital of America," had to lay off half of its police force - the only logical solution is to pay Bernie Ecclestone for a grand prix. Just like the only logical solution to combat the problem of inmate escapes from state halfway houses is to shield the private company who manages them with a veto of the bill recently passed that called for more stringent oversight of those facilities. (Of course, that company's VP is the blimp's former law partner. I'm sure that's purely coincidental, right?)

Remember, this is also the same guy who used the N.J. State Police helicopter to travel to his son's Little League games. Do you know how much fuel it requires to fly that tubby bastard around? That's an energy crisis in and of itself.
