Anyone watching GP3 right now? Serious crash....

Sky are not reporting anything and the guy who crashed (Robert Cregan) has been stuck in his car for a long time. The race was red flagged.

The way it crashed it looked like one of the wheels pinned his head after impacting the barriers...and he never got out of the vehicle, nor have we been given the "good news" yet.

Will Buxton immediately removed all enthusiasm from his commentating and sounds very concerned.

It's been maybe about 20 minutes now.....maybe more.

They've red flagged the race, done the podiums and done the post race analysis and still no info.

Edit: They've just ended the programme without any info whatsoever on his condition

When Melker crashed today in the GP2 race it was also quite serious but we were at least told he was conscious in the medical van.

I don't have GP3, Sky got cancelled recently .

But that doesn't sound good, especially if parts of the wheels hit him on the head and they have ended the program.

I find it confusing why so many people think that F1 and other open wheel series is too safe now a days, I've been saying for a while that it is only a matter of when the next person gets killed racing.

Hope he is ok.

His rear axle was completely hanging off and one wheel was pointing up towards the sky. He went into the barrier backwards and not only was the rear tyre a danger, but he was also pinned under the tyre barrier so if he is indeed pinned by something, he's got the weight of a tyre wall on him too.

Between Maria De Villotta and this, I couldn't even give a solid argument against safety cages or enclosures around the drivers heads.

Ocean's engineering chief Nigel Clyde about the GP2 crash:
"The initial checks on Nigel went quite well.

"Hopefully they might even release him from hospital tonight, but we don't know for sure whether they will keep him in overnight. We are waiting on the results of tests.

"He was heavily bruised in the crash, but he may even be in a position to race tomorrow.

"The chassis is heavily damaged. The engine is damaged and so is the gearbox. So it will be a whole new car!"


Ocean's GP3 team boss Bruno Corbe:
"Robert is OK. He was taken to Liege Hospital for final checks, but he feels fine in himself.

"He has some pain in his right leg and a little bit in his neck, but I am not a doctor so I can't tell you for sure.

"The chassis, engine and gearbox are all heavily damaged. We haven't given up yet but we are 90 per cent sure he won't race tomorrow, even if the hospital allows him to. We are not sure if we can get all the parts we need yet either."

Nightmare weekend for Ocean racing, but its great to see that both drivers aren't too badly damaged.

Must be a weird feeling to have your GP2 driver create the longest GP2 race ever due to destroying the tyre barrier so badly, then to have your GP3 driver end the GP3 race in the limited running it had in the first place due to the fact that your GP2 driver crashed so badly O_o
