I think it could be possible to create a scenario where a lap of monza took you around the current lap of monza, and rather than start another lap, you have in essence a "part 2" to your lap, where you must negotiate the old circuit. Personally, this would be the only scenario where I would like to see the old Monza revived. A whole race on an oval would be a turn off for me, but a race the incorporates an oval? Now you're speaking my language!
thats how they used to run, and i believe thats what we are talking about on this thread
For clarity: Yes, wrcsti is right, the idea is to revive the addition of the oval to the rest of the Monza track (as show in the title card for the youtube video posted in the thread) where a driver would essentially complete the current track and after round the parabolica, would enter into the oval and, upon exiting the oval, would continue to the start/finish straight, repeat as necessary.
I think it would be a fascinating idea. Although the length of the track would come into question in regards to F1; using the full Monza layout would be an interesting exercise in terms of endurance racing. Also, considering the emphasis on speed in NASCAR, updating and including the oval could open up some yankee eyes to the possibility of doing more with tracks other than ovals.
