I really think and hope not, that would be a stupid move from him, why support them if they don't support you?

And why do you think a guy like him can't go to Sauber?
He already did something similar before, he returned a favor to Mercedes, why can't he return a favor to Peter Sauber?
exactly!! he returned favor to Mercedes !! and look what happened. Michael isn't Damon Hill to go to a team like Jordan! If Ferrari offer him a contract will be nice but go to Sauber is shameful for a person like him.

last time I went to sleep Schumacher was at Mercedes and when I woke up was replaced by Hamilton..... I'd like to see that tomorrow morning will be announced at Ferrari or withdraw from Formula 1

Of course Sauber is a bit shamful, But it´s better than Mercedes! If Ferrari sign MSC it will be at Huge PR boost for them and remember what Alonso said. "You have to look at bigger names if they are going to replace Massa". Alonso dont want internal fights with a newbie.

MSC in a Ferrari again would be a dream.... 8)

That would be a huge PR nightmare for Mercedes  even more if they again build a shitty car and Ferrari is faster

Sadly only a dream :(

guys this not gonna happen ..... if there was even a discussion would have appeared so far. he will retire ..... can't afford to go to Sauber where he can embarrass next year if the car will not perform. that's why he hesitated to sign with Mercedes. Not afford another season without a victory ... waited to see if next year Mercedes will offer a competitive car but seems he pushed things far too much.

clipsy1H, dude, give it a rest. You're like an annoying virus that won't go away. That pic of Michael is very apt for you. :D Anything anyone says you come back with ''guys, it won't happen.'' How do YOU know??? The only people that will know is Michael, his family and his management, anything else is speculation. Let us fans dream a little!

Really disappointing news to wake up to.

The option of a 1 year contract at Ferrari seems unlikely.
I think I read, that part of the reason he left Ferrari (besides being tired of F1), was that he didn't want his buddy Massa being kicked out as a result of him staying.
I didn't follow F1 as closely back then, compared to now, but I wanted to mention it even though admittedly it could have just been a random statement in the "less technical" parts of this forum, that my brain decided to remember.
If there is truth in it, it would be another factor making the move to Ferrari less likely.
Willi Weber said, first thing he would have done as his manager was drive to Maranello asap.

I really would like to see him in a competitive Ferrari for a year though.

Sauber option imo is not that unlikely to happen. As he knew of the Hamilton deal for several days now, I think he would have announced his retirement today, if there were no options left worth considering.
Money shouldn't really be a factor. He is bringing lots of sponsors and if he wants to race, he could just drive for a 1 Swiss Franc salary. It's not like he needs the money.
Actually couldn't he even create a company with the sole purpose of sponsoring Sauber with some of his own cash and give them say a 10 million/year sponsorship in addition to having no salary boosting their budget by 15-20 million a year.
Would that be in conflict with the sporting regulations? Whether something like that would make sense for him, just for a little increase in competitiveness in the limited timeframe he is looking at, is a different matter.

As you can probably tell I just really want to see him continue [-o< . Sad way to end his F1 career.
If I ever decide to buy a german premium saloon car,I probably won't go for a Merc.

The future of Schumacher... is the past. In my books he did extremely well for a forty something guy. He didn't show his old age much.

I am 55 now and I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun if I could here or read what you'd be saying when you strike 43 :)

I'm not worried about Michael's next job. He will do something that suits him and we will learn in the fullness of time what it is. I doubt that he will go back to Ferrari because that makes little sense for the red team. He is not likely to drive anything that is unlikely to challenge for races wins and I don't see Sauber in that position next year. The most likely thing in my view is retirement and some form of amusement racing as he did during his first retirement with bikes. This time his wife will probably require him to use four wheels.

Depending how bored he is he might take up driver management together with somebody who can do all the leg work for him. Same could be true for team principal. He will only do this if he finds the right guy who manages the day to day work for him. Something like Berger did at Toro Rosso would be quite imaginable. I also think that he could pop up somewhere at the FiA in the long run.

If I had a wish free I would love to see him tackle the Nürburgring mess. If someone like Schumacher could take it over it would make a big difference for the recovery of the most important motor sport venue in Germany. People would simply come to the events to see him or perhaps his collection of cars. I know it is a dream but we are allowed to dream, aren't we?

Michael is a man of immense knowledge and experience. Arguably the greatest F1 driver of all time. To see him giving back to some non-top teams after all his success would truly be a mark of a great man. Every community needs its 'elders' that others can draw from and F1 is no different. To call his possible move to assist Sauber as being 'shameful' is narrow minded.

Not one person is born knowing everything and I'm sure you have learnt a lot from people around you who have 'been there & done that'. Imagine how hard it would have been if there was no one to teach you anything?

The greatest shame would be if Michael walked away forever and never gave back. True champions don't do that though and I'm sure Michael will continue to be an ambassador for F1 and a mentor for drivers and teams alike for many years to come, in what ever capacity he can.

The greatest shame is that Merc are getting there because of his help however he wouldn't be there to pick up the results he was working hard on. One can still feel that he wants to continue, but the recent races have been a disappointment for him. I don't think that he will repeat again the hard times with Sauber, he won't go that road again. I can only see him driving for Ferrari or Lotus. These where he should be if he wants to drive. I certainly want him to drive next year.

It's crazy I've been circling through all F1 forums and sites to get a clue and its now 3:30 AM and still searching. Very bad day for me.
