Your Favorite Team/Driver

Post

I've been reading this site for a couple of months and finally decided to sign-up. With various bashing of certain teams and drivers, I would like to know who you follow.

I was a Minardi fan until they were sold. Not sure now, might go with Spyker. I'd like to see Scott Speed do well, but the STR is limited and only shines under certain conditions, i.e. Rain.

Is Kubica the real deal or a flash in the pan? Time will tell.

Now let me here from the rest of you.

I always liked BMW, I liked them when I was seven and I like it now. My favourite driver is Senna, from this season offcourse Robert Kubica (the guy will be champion in some of the 3 years that follow)

Well the short answer: I'm not a Schumacher fan.

Longer answer: I don't like how he sometimes pushes it too far. I've been a fan of Mansell, Senna, Villeneuve and now Alonso.
As a team I like Renault for their your image and Flavio Briatore ;)

DC, McNish, Clark, Nuvolari and Prost would be my drivers (although Tazio was not actually a Formula 1 driver) most of them originally because they all came from near where I live, but then I noticed some of their increadable skills. Prost was in a different class to everyone, except Senna. Like fellow Frenchman Loeb and Gronholm now in the WRC, the other drivers are hellishly fast, but they're snails compared to the two in front, if one doesn't win you can bet the other will.

I like most teams, I have a hidden passion for Ferrari because of their past, I like Spyker now too, and the Jordans were good fun, but Lotus would probably be my all time favorite, OK I never saw them race but their legacy is suck that you have to love em.

Ive been influenced to love mercedes benz since i was born so when i started following f1 in 99, i fell in love with the trio of hakkinen-mclaren-mercedes benz. But Raikkonen is my all time favourite (since i was to young to experience senna, prost and mansell etc. on track) and since mclaren is being poorly managed these days, im leaning towards Ferrari, even though i usualy hate them..

Current - Alonso/Renault (obvious choice, but a class act)

Big soft spot for Williams, also DC

Historically - Lotus & Clark and of course the incomparable Tazio Nuvolari

In amongst that there are loads more - all heroes

i watch the sport for the racing, i like teams with spirt and guile

as far as it goes with drivers i like the ones that drive the wheels of there cars and gain places where perhaps a lesser mortal shouldnt have,

over the dull years i just stopped watching the front 4 cars and enjoyed the also rans race, which is often more closely and more tightly fought.

in short i cant side with any team or driver as thats just blind faith and v little to do with good racing (as is the FIA)

Senna and Prost without a doubt.

For the current ones:

Alonso/Renault for the class.

Huge respect for DC, the gentleman driver. A man who cares about other's safety more than his own results, the type of man who clear the track of his own debris to avoid impeding other's race. I see him as the opposite of MS. A great sportsman.
Sadly those qualities seems to involve less ambitions and winning spirit, and I feel we won't see him on top before the end of his career.

And JV also for his strong personality and driving skills.

Gilles Villeneuve for his skill and panache. Ferrari for the fact they always had an engine that was a work of art, made your passions flare, and made incredible power.
Many others.. Nuvolari, Senna, Peterson, James Hunt, Nelson Piquet, Graham Hill, Jimmy Clark, and JV.

Team fan, not driver fan - Renault fan who drives good for Renault (Alonso) gets my simphaty and vice versa (Fisichella).

Drivers I liked from when I started watching F1 - Lauda, Arnoux, Gilles Villeneuve, Keke Rosberg, Prost, Senna, Alesi, Berger, De Angelis, Mansell, Damon Hill, Coulthard, Zanardi, Monotya, Jacques Villeneuve, Alonso... I think Kubica is next in line and Piquet JR.

Believe it or not but up till 1994 I liked Schuey.

Teams I liked from when I started watching F1 - Except Renault I have huge respect for Williams and while they existed - Lotus, Brabham and Tyrell.

Super Aguri and McLaren all the way man :).
I just hope Alonso doesn't turn me off of McLaren the way Shumacher turned me off of Ferrari :/.
