LMP car CFD

Post

So got some time to make my own LMP model and run a CFD.
Got some quite good results from that model

About 15000N of downforce and 4600N of drag at 324km/h.
So quite close to the numbers of the top teams.

Nice pictures!

Could you maybe add some shots of the undertray? That would be great!
Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

Good job, Tom. Are those static pressure plots only, or there's more? Any vortex models used? What is the software, how much time did the simulation take, hardware?

you should set your pressure much closer. I use 101900 to 101000 so you get a more defined areas of high (red) and low (blue) pressure. Learnt it from another topic on here.

The fact that you are not using a model that has the wheel rotation compromise the results. You then have to create the vanes and that compromise the performances as well. But its a nice base that you've got here ! :)
