Maybe some car jumping will bring back excitement?

Post

Maybe some racetracks designed to have cars jump at some points will bring back excitement?
Bring back jumps like in the glorious early days.

As for it being too dangerous, its part of the show.
And yes, F1 is actually show business. If they don't keep people excited, they will fade into oblivion.
This reminds me of a The Simpson epidose when a Nascar car crashes and takes off, spectators stand up in excitement only to watch the car land on its four wheels and continue driving, then people got booing and uninterested.

As for cars not being able to withstand jumps, again so what?
Make them stronger so their increased ruggedness relates to road cars that have to withstand pothole filled public roads.

Once you have downforce like these cars have, you're extremely unlikely to see a car jump like in the 60's on the Nordschleife.

Go ask Anthony Davidson and his shattered and pinned spine how they think this will work in the stiffly sprung F1 and LMP cars

I've gotten 'air' before on the motorbike, a road between Peterborough to Stamford in the UK has a nice humpback bridge... about 1ft of air, popped fork seals and smashed bollox against the tank later... i'll never do that again. Nothing like a ride home with fork oil all over your brakes and bruising on you baby-juice makers... IT HURTS MAN!

What about a Super Mario Push Button and jump over backmarkers?

I love that last picture. Not only is he some 3 feet in the air, he's not even looking where he's going.

Don't be silly, you know they can't be in a race anymore: they are forbidden to do it since the Accident.
