Autosport awards revisited

Post

Unfortunately the previous thread is now locked so I have to open another one.

Vettel won the international driver award.

Button won British competition driver

Peter Sauber won the Bolster Award

So some predictions were wildly off the mark. Congratulations to Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button. They both had a good season and deserved the Awards. I wish the runner ups Hamilton and Alonso more luck next season.

This post was edited to show the proper URL for the Button award report

Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)

As a motorsport fan I am greatly offended.

Why not just call it the F1 awards? Doesnt seem they looked much elsewhere.

As a motorsport fan I feel the right man won the driver of the year award. A true sportsman. Congrats MR Vettel

The import thing in life is not winning, it is to be hugged on the streets and being called samurai.
"There is a credit card with the Ferrari logo, issued by Santander, which gives the scuderia a % of purchases made with the card...

I would guess that such a serious amount of money would allow them to ignore the constant complains of a car that was nowhere near as bad as their #1 driver tried to sell throughout the season.

Heck, a car on which Massa finishes in the podium or has to lift so that his teammate finishes ahead (As we saw often in the final races of the year) is, by no means, a "bad" car."

Honestly? The thread's been healthy so far - and you have to bring this up?

Healthy would not exactly be the term to use for such words. People have been put in asylums for less than that.

So who did Button pay off?
I´d like to read the criteria to get that award. "to get it you must be beaten by your teammate"
"Il Phenomeno" - The one they fear the most!

It doesn't even stop at that, it's more like: "to get it you must be beaten by your british teammate"

Nobody knows why he won the award, but everybody knows now the award loses any credibility or value. He probably took some of the voters out to dinner too. Or helped some more old ladies cross the road as they showed in Tooned.

If it were called 'Most popular/ apparently nicest driver award' it would've been ok, but 'British Driver of the Year Award' - after the man himself recently said it has been his worst season at Mclaren - is a travesty.

I get why Button won it last year - I don't get why he won it this year. Perhaps they saw Lewis' move as one caused by Button playing intra-team politics and forcing Lewis out mentally? I don't know - complete guess.
