Mondial 2006 pics (Dial-up Alert!)

Post

Hi all! went to the "mondial de l'automobile 2006" last wednesday, and decided to share some pics with you. As I have taken lots of pics, I'll refrain to post'em all and just limit it to the racing related ones.

Unfortunatly, my father's camera fell out of battery while I was still wandering around in hall 1, so I've no pics of others halls.

Note: Ive resized the pictures to smaller resolution, but if someone tells me how to create a thumbnail(I know, it's a shame but I don't know how to do  ), I'll put Hi res ones.

Peugeot

This was an amazing car to see! Of course, it's a demo version and things such as the chromed lion insignia are very unlikely to fit on the racing car.

Porsche

The 2007 ALMS RS Spyder:

Ferrari

Special bad mention to Ferrari and Maserati btw, they didn't allow public to enter their stands, which were reserved to VIPs  . I don't think they've well understood what a car show is about... Anyway, thanks to Brigestone I could approach the F2004, and the camera's zoom allowed me to shoot the F2005 a bit. F2004:

I liked this exhaust combination.

Edit: Corrected my mistake whith the pics, they should be visible now. Also corrected the Ferraris names.

I know how hard it is to take pictures at a motorshow, since it's inside. So well done on the pictures.

BTW, I think the Ferrari's are the F2004 and the F2005

Thank you TP. I've just noticed also I wrote 348F1 instead of 248F1, sorry for the Ferrari fans.I'm going to edit that. It is possible that the car at the Brigestone stand was a F2004, but I think the other one is the 248 because of the mirrors, which are attached to the sidepods. I thought this feature was an exclusivity of this year car.

Like Tp said, the "F2005" is actually the F2004, and the "248F1" is actually the F2005. The mirrors on the F2005 were that high so that the drivers could watch the Bridgestones deteriorate.

Otherwise, great pictures. I wish they held those kinds of events here in the states.

The North American International Auto Show? ie. Detroit?

It's interesting how Porsche sticks to their open car plan... I think the 2007 LM regs favor hardtops and that's why Peugeot made a coupe.

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

That Peugeot is georgeous! Especially the nose. Even though 908 is one of Porsche's most famous sports racers. The French have a wonderful talent for automobile design.

As for the open cockpit of the Porsche Spyder, when an engineer was asked why the 917LM and the 911GT1 Evo's looked so similar with 27 years between them, he answered "Aerodynamics, they do not change." So the greenhouse of the enclosed car will probably resemble the GT1's teardrop shape with a central air inlet.

Ooh, that Peugeot is pretty!

My bad, you are right, it is the F2004 and F2005. I guess that's the mark of true Ferrari fans  .I edited accordingly to your comments.

Anyway, I decided to add a few pics. A little bit of Peugeot fantasy, and some stunning beauties by Aston, Pininfarina and Alpha Romeo.

This girl was nice and gave me a warm welcome. So I decided she was worth the pic 8)

Then a strange spyder concept from the 207 basis. More weird than beautifull IMO, but it's up to you to forge your own opinion...

Ok, now I'll stop here or this page is gonna take hours to load! Hope you enjoy. I have all those pics in 2816x2112. Some (like the front view of the 908) makes perfect desktop. Feel free to PM me if you want one.

Outstanding Pics

Post

Well done vyselegend, the pics are outstanding, and the first I've seen of the gorgeous LMP car. The Spyder is damn good looking to. Is it just a styling exercise, or is it planned for competition?

Please, more pics!
