Hamilton won The Era Club Trophy at the BRDC Awards yesterday. Which is awarded to the British driver who, driving a British car, established the most meritorious performance of the year outside the UK.

Who would deserve it? Horner and Whitmarsh are first class bullshiters. My pick would be Monisha Kaltenborn.

With a Brit that has won F2 and one thas won F3, not to mention all the categories I don't even know of, you have to wonder why they are even in the top 3 to begin with.
"There is a credit card with the Ferrari logo, issued by Santander, which gives the scuderia a % of purchases made with the card...

I would guess that such a serious amount of money would allow them to ignore the constant complains of a car that was nowhere near as bad as their #1 driver tried to sell throughout the season.

Heck, a car on which Massa finishes in the podium or has to lift so that his teammate finishes ahead (As we saw often in the final races of the year) is, by no means, a "bad" car."

What are you implying, that Autosport should change the result of the public vote?
And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.

I dont a give a you know what to be honest, it's voted for by readers, so its another fanboy fest, the actual race by race season ratings given by the magazine put Alonso on top.

I mean i dont know if i saw correctly, but if its true that Jenson button came ahead of Lewis Hamilton in this list, then it tells you all you need to know about the kind of moronic individuals who voted.

Simple as that really.

Maybe - throwing a theory out there - it's about him having to overcome that midseason slump. Maybe they saw his being able to reverse out of that slump as a sign that he was a hardworking guy who was able to grind sweat and get himself out of a quandary. Just a possible.
Maybe massa could get the best ferrari driver award for the same reason

Bit late don´t you think? we can´t forget Massa had like 2 points going into the summer break.
Was an embarrassment to watch frankly.

Even though I would not have selected Button, it tells me that different people have different perceptions than each other. I've seen it scores of times in forums, there is a controversial incident, and suddenly people are hotly debating who's right and wrong, who's at fault, and on and on and on. I say to myself that all of us saw the exact same thing on TV, yet we differ so greatly in our personal interpretation and judgement.

This was a fan vote, and as they can sometimes go, a complete shocker.

It can happen, and thus most of us are wondering why. The first question is ... "did you vote?". I suspect the answer, and that is the first issue. What was in the makeup of those voters who gave Button the thumbs up? Maybe they were more mature fans, and placed a greater priority on things other than qualifying results. Maybe the fans of .. cough cough .. another Brit driver weren't on average as mature, didn't know about the vote or didn't care, or just didn't bother voting.

Although I would have voted otherwise, I'm not completely shocked. These votes can become a popularity contest, and what is a shocker to many fans of .. cough cough.. another Brit driver is the realization that Jenson Button has more followers on Twitter. I know that doesn't answer everything, but it can give us a hint that sometimes the quiet majority can be heard over the loud minority.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

It's always worth having a heavy dose of cynicism with these PR events. We can't take them too seriously.

Perhaps Button's fan club mobilised themselves to give him as many votes as possible? Perhaps Hamilton couldn't attend but Button could? Do Autosport ever have absent winners?
